An beautifully detailed pottery figure of a MNother with her child, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD.), dating to late Ming period c. 1550-1600 AD.

The lady is clad in a large thick robe, covering the most of her head, and she is holding a newborn chikd to hear breast. She is standing on a round plint, and the glaze is torquise and dark blue colours.

Nicely painted facial details, careful thick glazing and a fine expression.

Antique Japanese ikebana basket, for display of flower arrangements. The piece is all hand-woven with bamboo with a wide rounded mouth, and squared base. The handle is made with braided thin sections of bamboo, secured at the sides with knots. The basket interior holds a striped bamboo vase.

Very rare Tang Dynasty (618CE to 907CE) terra cotta wall tile depicting the face of a Zhemushou, a fierce guardian earth spirit meant to ward off evil. It is a trapezoidal shape with much of original red and black pigments intact. Some loss to the lower lip (please see enlargements). Lower W: 19cm/7.8in, upper W: 16cm/6.1in and H: 20cm/9in.

This lovely set of 5 antique Japanese blue and white porcelain sake cups was made for export during the McKinley Tariff Act of 1890-1914 which required that the name of the country of origin appear in writing on each piece of pottery or porcelain imported into the country. Each cup has the makers name on the bottom as well as the country of origin. they are in excellant condition.

A moulded water dropper in the form of a monkey with baby. White stoneware body with cobalt blue decoration, covered with a transparent glaze. Annamese ware ( Vietnam ) fifteenth century. H : 6,4 cm. Condition: Perfect, with smaller areas of spalling to the otherwise wonderful glossy glaze ( please look at the images ).

Tall Japanese Boy's Day banner depicting 3 samurai on horseback. Wonderfully dramatic scene with swords drawn and crashing waves on a black ground. Bright colors in paste resist dye on cotton. The top of the banner is decorated with a wood sorrel (katabami) mon. Taisho Period. Size: 23 1/2 feet high x 33 inches wide.

A wonderful, larger Chinese pottery figure of a female attendant. The figure dates to Ming Dynasty 1368-1644 AD.

An lady dressed in a robe glazed in Green and Yellow Sancai colors. She is placed on plint and carries a vase in front of her chest.

She carries a hat and her hair is nicely styled. Facial details were made with fragile pigment colors of which some remains.

Height: 31-32 cm - c. 12,5 inches. A massive figure in hand, weighing 1,6-1,7 kg.

The front side was carved with a high relief of a scholar and his horse under a tree. The back side was carved with a scene of a scholar sitting on a boat. Jadeite stopper and solid silver spoon. Size: 7cm high. Condition: Very good.

A "宣" seal mark on the bottoms. Size: 12 cm high, 12 cm long, 4 cm wide. Condition: Excellent.

This is made with crepe embroidery of the Edo era, printing silk, Akita silk. The time when this was made is the latter period of the Meiji. There is no stain dirt. The condition is good. The embroidery of four attractive cherry blossoms is impressive. Size: 89cm x 120cm (35 "x 47.2")

Bust portrait of an unidentified actor in the role of a half-naked samurai from a series titled "Mirror of Good and Evil Spirits" by Toyohara Kunichika (1835-1900), published by Tsunoi in 4/1868. Paper size: 14" x 9 3/8". The print is a fine impression with very fresh color. The wood grain is plainly evident in the background and there are mica highlights. The left margin is trimmed. Thin Japanese album paper backing, but the image can be clearly seen on the reverse and there is no tape or...

This piece is quite rare because of its overglaze enamel decoration. A nice chrysanthemum decoration done with a thick sky blue enamel. Late Ming Dynasty, sixteenth century. Diameter : 12,2 cm. H : 8,1 cm. Condition : Some fiering cracks ( the kind of the crazing around the cracks point to it that the cracks are fiering cracks and not a later damage - unfortunately the closeups are not good enough to show this )

An early Japanese blue & white plate produced in Arita at the end of the seventeenth century. The centre features a roundel carefully painted with a vase of flowers on a verandah. The unusual vase perhaps based upon a Dutch example. The ‘Kraak’ style border after Chinese Ming design.

An elaborately inlaid three drawer marquetry cabinet, unusually, with tambour doors. This item was made in Japan, for export, during the late 19th or early 20th century. In very good used condition; there is one small piece of veneer missing from the top back corner of the right side; no further losses, no restoration and no alterations. 23 cm (9 inches) high; 24.5 cm (9.5 inches) high.
