Antique 17h -18th century Islamic Indo-Persian helmet Kulah-Khud.

The helmet's hemispherical skull is formed by hand-hammering a single piece of thick, solid steel. The interior displays visible hammer marks, while the exterior surface is entirely smooth. The skull is adorned with a long, thick spike and two plume holders.

The entire surface of the skull is finely hand-chiseled, in low relief, with a floral pattern and six circular medallions...

Very rare antique, 18th – early 19th century, Indian Mughal period, a shield of a Christian Indian warrior, buckler. The shield is embellished in the center with a large Christian cross of St. Thomas (Mar Thoma Sleeva). This distinctive cross is the religious and cultural symbol of Saint Thomas Christians in India, also called Syrian Christians of India, Marthoma Suriyani Nasrani, Malankara Nasrani, or Nasrani Mappila.

Rare and unique (one of a kind), antique large Thai “parang” or “machete”, general purpose bush knife which was used in cutting and splitting rattan and bamboo. The handle is made of old, and nowadays rare, Thai Rosewood: Dalbergia cochinchinensis which has a nice chatoyance to the grain (sort of looks like Huanghuali to me 降香黄檀). The cutting edge is still sharp and usable; there are a couple of splits which is secured by a metal band. L: 64cm/25.2in.

Exceptional semi antique, over 70 years old, two paneled Tai Daeng (Red Tai) blanket from Northern Laos with supplementary weft silk Chinese Shou longevity character medallions and key fret design. Rare early “si zhi” (four straight lines) style inkstone carved from an old fired brick. The characters on the brick are in an archaic style, no longer in use today. The square shaped flat bottomed inkstone with sloping grinding surface did not become popular until the Song Dynasty, so it is possible this was made into a inkstone long after it was a brick. Chinese are very fond of creating ink stones out of “found objects” such as roof tiles etc...

4 7/8" long fossilized Megalodon sharks tooth in excellent condition. Found in a river near Savannah, GA. This size tooth is from a 50 foot long meg. Nice river polish. Heavy. These teeth are often faked. This tooth is from a 10 million year old fossil and has no repair or restoration. Most have serious undetected restoration. This one is a no-brainer. 1920s chosen matsu (Korean pine wood) netsuke of a rooster. Perfectly captured essence of the creature, carved in characteristic Hida school style with clever use of wood colors and structure to add to the charm of the piece. Excellent sense of volume, eyes are inlaid with black horn, beautiful patina. Length 1.76 inches.

19th century bronze netsuke in a shape of a double gourd. Nicely made, very pleasant brown patina, swinging loop around its waist for hanging. Fixed brass stopper to its neck. Length 2.21 inches.

This Romanian hide scraper is 2 13/16" long. The stone bit is original and still tight in place. The bit is the proper length for scraper control. This is stone age with a fossilized ivory handle with thumb rest in perfect condition This is a super rare find.

A rare and interesting bronze spear butt for a large lance for hand-to-hand combat, probably Median-Achaemenid, c. 7th.-5th. cent. BC.

The use of this fine spearbutt was known all over the Greco-Persian world in the mid 1st. millenium BC. A spear-butt covers the end of a spear that touches the ground and it would have been used as a weapon also in close combat.

This is a very high quality casting, depicting Silenus, dating to the 1st-3rd century AD. A substantial casting with very fine detailing and hand-chasing. The handle measures just under 5-1/2" in height and is 3" at its widest. This would most likely have been the handle to an important vessel used during Bacchic (Dionysiac) revels. This is a heavy, substantial piece of very high quality.

This is an example of the "disc-shaped" (squarish) bi discs illustrated by Jessica Rawson in her definitive work on Chinese jades, at page 113.
