Nice old red and black lacquered Cambodian Siri (betel) box container with foliate scroll pattern incised on the surface. Minor lacquer losses and restoration consistent with an antique piece. The art of Cambodian lacquer production has had a minor renaissance in recent years but this mainly done for the decorative art export market, items made for local village use this has pretty much died out after Khmer Rouge Era and advent of cheap Chinese plastic boxes...

Antique Japanese 4 panel screen with rooster and hen. This unusual screen has gold lacquered open lattice work backed with the original sheer white silk. A beautiful scene of a blossoming plum tree, yellow daisies and chickens makes up the carved and painted foreground. The bottom portion of each panel is pierced carved and painted with scenes of rocks and cymbidium orchids.

A high quality and massive Mesopotamian cylinder seal carved in dark serpentine stone, North-West Mesopotamia, c. 18th.-16th. century BC.
The seal is profusely engraved with a complex depiction of deities and animals. A central godess is sort of flying with her hands touching two creatures above. A worshipper in front with hands raised. Aray of animals and smaller figures including a Centaur below.

The mid 19th century carved nut (tagua) netsuke is 1 ¾” long, 1 ¼” wide and 1 3/8” thick. It depicts a Shi Shi mask and an old man emerging from a cloth bag. There is an artist’s signature on the side. Aside from a few hair line cracks, it is in excellent condition.

According to the writing on the back, this small embroidered pencil holder in was made in 1897 by a Mrs Lee for M.J. Thomas who was a member of the Chinese Chicago Mission group. The embroidery stitches are tiny and some of the threads are frayed but it is a warm memento of friendship and an artifact from another era in relations between China and the US.
