Well hollowed shadow agate snuff bottle, of classical shape, with a "tao tie" mask in relief on each shoulder. The stopper is made of coral, turquoise and silver with a felt base. The spoon is made of iron. The piece dates back to the Qing Dynasty, 19th century. Its height: 6.4 cm without stopper. Its total height: 8.2 cm. Excellent condition.

This is a superbly carved 19th Century Japanese Netsuke, depicting a seated Young Gama Sennin, wearing mugwort leave clothes, happily playing with a large toad that he is holding with a rope. He has by his side a rice straw basket filled with mugwort leaves. Wonderful expression, excellent form and detail, all throughout. Signed Gyokuyosai, the teacher of Osaki Kokusai. The holding of animals with a rope by young boys is a particular characteristic of Gyokuyosai carvings...

An antique Japanese Choba Tansu (merchant chest) from the Niigata region of Japan. The front section is made of burled keyaki (Zelkova) and the sides are sugi (Crytomeria). The tansu has a pair of burled wood sliding doors over two burled drawers with heavy iron locks. Exceptional burled Keyaki wood.

A beautifully and well shaped Ming Dynasty (1368-1643A.D) rice bowl with a simple blue splashes of cloud like motives all the way to the bottom. This piece is retrieved from the sea. The bowl is a common household ware likely to be used for eating rice or drinking water/wine. It is an export ware for the South-East Asian market. It is also likely that this blue bowl can be dated toward the end of the Ming Dynasty - 17th century...

This is a Japanese antique Boro noragi indigo dye hemp Meiji (1868-1912). The indigo dye hemp fades with use is very charming. size: Length 75cm (29.5inch) sleeve to sleeve 123cm (48.4inch)

Japanese black lacquered woven Bamboo Trunk, Meiji period, early 1900's, 11" high, 25" x 15" wide, with large and heavy black iron handles supported by wooden board on both side, paper lining inside and metal hinges on top to open one side of the top cover. This Bamboo Trunk is good to storing Dolls and other necessary light weight items. There are some black lacquer loses on the surface.

This late 19th century Japanese gold lacquered tortoise shell box is 5 inches long, 2 ½ inches wide and 1 inch thick. On one side, it depicts an eagle resting on a plum tree and a sparrow flying over a river on the other side. The workmanship is precise and elegant. Except for a few tiny chips and scratches due to its age, it is in good condition.

19th century netsuke in button form carved out of the coronet part of a deer antler. Strong early piece, nicely chunky, beautiful staining, warm patina, natural blemishes as is usual with staghorn, which make it so attractive. Wonderful tactile object. Average diameter 2.15 inches.

Korean round lacquered container with shell inlay motifs of scrolling vines and lotus petals. The lid is topped with a pointed finial, lifting away to the red lacquered interior. The base is black lacquer with inlay sides and delicate inlay along interior rim.

A set of 5 Japanese karimata arrow collection. Forged iron, mounted on steel plates and armature wire.

The forked arrowhead (karimata) was named after its resemblance to the V-formation flight of wild geese. Such arrows of different sizes were highly prized on the battlefield and for hunting large game. Nicely cast ritual spoon, with a highly detailed statue on its top representing Hindu god Krishna standing on a stylised lotus and playing his flute, with a cow behind him. The spoon itself is decorated with two birds on its sides and a geometric design at its back. Copper with nice green patina. India, early 19th century. Height: 14.8 cm. The spoon is mounted on a custom stand to enhance its beauty. A rather rare piece of this size and condition.

Good Bhutan hand spun blanket. I bought this from a Bhutanese woman sitting at the bottom of the trail to original Tiger Nest, in 1995. Simple but stunning wool embroidered floral and foliate medallions. Made with soft wool (very warm), comprised of two panels, perfect condition. Width: 93cm/37.5in and Length: 158cm/62in.
