A beautiful late 19th C. Chinese cloisonne charger with lion motif in excellent condition. D:38cm

This very well carved late 19th century ivory netsuke is 1 ¼” high, 2 ¼” wide and 2“ thick. It depicts an old samurai’s metal helmet decorated with shi-shi (lion) head on top. The helmet is situated on an opened paper fan. There are a dozen mice with inlaid eyes on the helmet playing and chasing each other. It seems that symbols of war and peace, the helmet and the fan, are brought together and put in their place by nibbling mice. The workmanship is just superb...

Rare Japanese document tansu with 10 drawers of differing size, made all of keyaki wood with beautiful heavy grain and original deep reddish orange translucent lacquer finish, iron hardware with square shaped handles, Edo Period (late 18th/early 19th century). Antique Chinese bronze statue of a Fu Dog, standing playfully with its paw rested on an embroidered ball, with one of the tassles in its mouth. Attractive form and nice detailing. Mounted on heavy stand.

A large Kansai area issho tansu made from keyaki and sugi woods. Copper handles are used on the sliding door panels and a special cabinet with a lock is set on the bottom area of the chest. Tansu such as these were often placed in the private quarters of the home and clothes, family documents, and important objects were placed inside. Antique Japanese two-section tansu in gorgeous original Keyaki (hardwood) with original lacquer finish, with red lacquer top and sides. Iron hardware of a rosy tone adorns each corner and drawer front, such as kakute (squared) shape handles and fleur de lis style locks. Side safe box holds two small drawers within for small treasures. The tansu sits on a custom stand. Key is included. Meiji Period (1868 - 1912) Size: 37" H x 33.5" W x 17" D

A finely cast bronze Bodhisattva Simhanada Lokesvara (an incarnation of Avalokiteśvara), with trident and seated on a lion. This item was made in Tibet and the bronze is of traditional copper / tin composition...

This early 19th century lacquered wood depicts a boy performing a Shi Shi dance. It is 2 inches tall. It is signed ¡°Nisai.¡± Some color is worn off; but it is in good condition.

This Chinese Ming Dynasty (1368~1615) bronze temple guardian is 14 ½ inches tall. The four characters on chest read ¡°pass to the heavenly gate¡±. The weapon he carried is missing. It is in good condition.

A rare and very well painted enamel wine ewer - with documentary decoration in Chinese taste possibly depicting the story of the Daoist Immortal Lu Dong Bin. This item was made circa 1740 during the reign of the Qianlong emperor. Condition - there is an 18th Century iron replacement handle; there are surface marks and there are enamel losses around the finial on the cover( enlargement no.6) and to the tip of the spout (enlargement no.1)...
