A Chinese porcelain brush washer with a flambe ox blood glaze and the splashed colors of red, white and blue. The pot was for the use of a scholar to clean his brush when doing calligraphy. The washer is six sided and measures about 2" tall x 2 1/2" in diameter. The overall length is 17.9 inches (45.5 cm) long. The case is 12.4 inches (31.5 cm) long by 2.36 inches (6 cm) wide. The beads are 0.87 inch (2.2 cm) long by 0.5 inch (1.29 cm) wide. It is 32.8 gram.
It has frayed silk, loose threads, tears at the inner lining, and wears. One of the bead has a chip (as seen in the photos).

Choson Period, ca. early 1800s
This jar is stoutly potted, having a tall neck and flaring body, resting on a thick grit-coated footring and slightly recessed base. It is clear glazed without decoration. Small gray and brown iron impurities in the clay freely show through the clear glaze. This is a mingei type folk craft item intended to use in the home. There are several stable hairline cracks from age, stained brown in the rim area.
