This is a japanese antique Edo period (1800-1867)hemp Buddhist Shugensha hanten coat worn by Shugen practitioners and Yamabushi who practiced Shugendo.
Shugendo is a unique Japanese religion that combines Buddhism, Shinto and the worship of nature (mountains).
It has some light stains and one very small hole, but is in very good condition.

Decorated outside with chrysantemum scrolls, plantain leaves pattern round the neck, classic scrolls and a border of early lappets between two bulbs, and other a border early lappets on the lower base. Unglaze base.

Jizo is of one of the most beloved of Buddhist Boddhisatvas in Japan as a guardian of children and travellers. Sado Island in Niigata Prefecture was once ringed with Jizo statues, and the granite there made it a center of religious sculpture production and sales. This Jizo hails from Sado and holds a lotus leaf in his right hand and a "tama" or Buddhist ball of wisdom in his left. His face is well worn from the elements and time. H.24cm(10") x W.17cm(6.75").

Strand of Khmer glass beads circa 11th to 12th century. Generically classified as Indo Pacific Trade Beads, these were sourced in Cambodia. Mask made of kiri (Paulownia) wood, showing the wide-laughing and dimpled face of god of good fortune (shichifukujin), Daikoku. The base of his hat just sitting on the top of his head.
The broad grain of the wood was used to accentuate the round cheeks, nose and nostrils. The wood was formerly stained with a reddish-brown color, now almost completely worn off...

Antique 17h -18th century Islamic Indo-Persian helmet Kulah-Khud.
The helmet's hemispherical skull is formed by hand-hammering a single piece of thick, solid steel. The interior displays visible hammer marks, while the exterior surface is entirely smooth. The skull is adorned with a long, thick spike and two plume holders.
The entire surface of the skull is finely hand-chiseled, in low relief, with a floral pattern and six circular medallions...
This is a very fine early Japanese plique-a-jour bowl. The bowl measures 4 3/8 inches across and stands 2 1/4 inches tall. The bowl has two short lines in the yellow/red mums on the side that are hard to see. Look for them in the images. They can not be felt with a fingernail and are probably not all the way through. It is mounted with silver rims.
These 3 collars were originally the collar portion and were sewn to a lower section to forming a child's pinafore...
