A beautiful and wonderfully proportioned antique Georgian cordial glass. The round funnel bowl tops a rare stem configuration of a double series air twist (DSAT) comprised of a pair of 7 ply spiral bands outside of a central pair of mercury corkscrews. The plain conical foot has a rough, snapped pontil.
The glass is 6 1/2 inches tall, with a bowl diameter of 1 13/16 inches and a goodly foot diameter of 3 inches...
This set includes two Imari dishes, two gold and iron red glaze dishes, and a famille rose dish.
Very good condition.
Large and only slightly distorted full cylinder shaped Tsutsu (hight is bigger than diameter) tea bowl with a rounded brim, made of reddish, unrefined Mino clay with clearly visible finger marks on the wall.
The expertly thrown body was trimmed with a potter's knife around the regular food ring. In the style of Seto-Kuro bowls this bowl was covered with a black glaze.
On three sides a round space was spared from black glaze...

A large and wonderfully proportioned heavy baluster goblet with a solid base conical bowl. The stem has a wide angular knop and a basal knop, each with an air tear which also extends between the two knops. Conical folded foot with a rough, snapped pontil.
Superb condition with great color, striations, and tooling marks. 7 11/16 inches tall, with a bowl diameter of 3 13/16 inches and a foot diameter of 3 5/8 inches.
A beautiful composite stem English wine glass with a tulip bowl above a stem with a multi-spiral air twist over a teared inverted baluster knop above a plain section. The glass has a domed foot with rough pontil.
The form itself is quite uncommon and when found is almost always with a pointed round funnel bowl or round funnel bowl, and of somewhat shorter height. For a glass of that type see Bickerton p. 193, fig 555...

Statue of Zhen Wu, or Xuan Wu, the God of the North, in formal attire, sitting on a rocky throne, under which his two attributes --- the snake and the tortoise --- are hiding, his right arm resting on a chimera. Wood, with remnants of the original lacquering and gilding. Black glass eyes. China, Ming Dynasty. Height: 10 1/2" (26,7 cm). Good condition.

A large Japanese bronze flower vase, Edo period, 17th century. 30 cms.

A very similar vase, but with different handles, is illustrated by Michael Goedhuis, Chinese and Japanese Bronzes, 1989, pl.92.
A fine old ceremonial sake pourer, hisage, hand made from copper and decorated with shochikubai (pine, plum and bamboo), minogame and cranes. Also present are two prominent Tokugawa family crests and on the handle three 16 petalled chrysanthemum crests and another on the rear handle mount. 19th century or earlier. Fine work.
The body of the pourer has probably been raised from one sheet of copper...
An extremely thinly potted, moulded porcelain dish, decorated in an most beautiful underglaze Cobalt blue. Very nice glossy glaze.

Condition : Some minute glaze fritting to the rim and one long, secured crack to the bottom - area of the dish.

Mid Edo period Hagi Chawan in the stylish shape of modest slight distortion. It is roughly coated in slightly glossy white slip and bears beside a wari-kodai (splitted foot) a fantastic 'landscape' on the inside.
But the highlight is the old gold restoration, a fantastic gintsugi (kintsugi) which makes our Hagi tea bowl so valuable and outstanding.
The chawan comes together with a good wood box and a blue shifuku for a perfect protection...
