Kangxi Blue and White Dish with Buddhist Treasures (KBW011425)
ca. 1700-1720, early 18th century
Kangxi Period, Qing Dynasty
Porcelain with overglaze cobalt blue; Jindezhen ware
Diameter: 21.5 cm / 8.5 in
Height: 3.4 cm / 1.3 in
From a Paris metropolitan area estate
A fine Chinese-taste Kangxi blue and white circular dish, with a brilliantly glazed body and everted lips, underglaze-painted with buddhist treasures amongst floral scrolls. The reverse is also decorated with buddhist treasures interspersed with floral sprays. The cobalt coloring is a deep, almost indigo blue.
Condition: upper body (including mouth rim!) is perfect. The foot-rim has some fleabite chips and an original firing flaw. [Please examine all photos carefully, as they are part of the condition report.]
