Antique traditional robe of the Ainu people of northern Japan. Attush (attusi) fabric was made of the inner fibers of elm tree bark (ohyo). The bark was harvested by the men but refined and woven by the Ainu women. This robe is edged with dark indigo-dyed cotton cloth. The back of the neck of the robe is sewn with a bit of lighter blue cotton fabric with a white paste resist pattern.

We love the simplicity of this claw set amethyst single cabochon stone ring, made somewhere around the turn of the century or later. The ring is hallmarked 15K and has 3 decorative notches cut on both sides of the band. The single cabochon amethyst stone is a smooth and polished clear shade of purple and perfect. Notice the ring stands high on the hand. The ring is open backed and can be worn everyday and hand washing will not disturb it. US Size 8.5 but it can be resized.

This a rare yosegire patchwork kimono is original from the Edo period. The safflower-dyed board pattern is cherry blossoms. The safflower dyeing on the sleeves and waist is a pattern of squeezing, butterflies and waves. The hem has a very impressive ichimatsu and goose pattern. Very high tech shibori and stencil dye.
