A pair of small “utility” knives made by Iban people of Sarawak, East Malaysia. These were frequently carried in the sheaths of their larger brothers, the Dayak mandau. The blades are hand forged, possibly scavenged steel from the leaf springs form an old car. Circa last half of the 20th century. A delightful Bennington-type yellowware cow creamer with mottled brown glaze. The cow stands on a concave oval base. This example is more nicely potted than some, with good detailing in the ribcage area and a quirky facial expression. These creamers were made in both America and England, but the style of modelling suggests this is an American example. The tail has been reglued nicely, and a professional restorer could make the repair completely invisible.

One of the two end gilt silver clasps which are decorated with enamel characters is stamped "90" followed by characters. Condition; Hairline crack where the handle joins the body and another short one on the left side just behind the first bump traveling back toward the handle. As mentioned earlier there is plenty of ash in the glaze...
