One of a collection of three fantastic and rare, large Edo Period Iki masks, de-accessioned from the Musée Archéologique in Strasbourg, France during the mid-20th Century. These three are rare for their large size. They have never before been offered on the art market. The other two masks are posted on this site. Carved Poloma wood with gofun (oyster shell lacquer), glass eyes and human hair. 7.5 inches (19 cm) high x 7 inches (18 cm) wide.

From our European Collection, a good and substantial pair of Continental hand-carved black walnut chairs, 19th century, featuring claw feet and floral motifs carved in deep relief. The seat cushions are a mustard / gold colored silk and are either original, or later 19th / early 20th century replacements.

Size and Condition: 36 inches tall, 19 inches wide.

A fine and well balance potted dish, decorated to interior with incised a pair of aubergine dragons surrounded a shou medallion in the center, the cavetto sides with five clouds. The exterior with a pair of dragons chasing pearl on yellow ground glaze. Yongzheng six characters mark on the base within double circle, probably of the period. Condition is excellent. Diameter: 19cm.

This is a Swiss 18K pocket watch, with top-wind button set. Made By Humbert-Ramuz & Cie, white-enamel face with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds.The casing is delicately decorated with diamonds. Swiss hallmarks on interior of case (please see photos). Early 20th Century.

This large eight-sided jardiniere is both rich and gorgeous: a thick celadon glazed ground is decorated with a resplendent parade of flowers, all done in the Chinese floral paint...

From our European Collection, a good 19th century hand-carved hall chair with an armorial / heraldic shield, probably Spanish in origin. The wood used is a dense and heavy hardwood which appears to be either walnut or mahogany. The chair is armless and rests upon wooden casters.

Size and Condition: 50 inches tall, 18 inches wide, 18 inches deep. Overall very good condition with mostly minor surface wear to the wood commensurate with age and use...

Open-face travel clock with original leather case. Marked Lenroc on the face.
Early 20th Century.
Measures: Case: 4.25" (10.7 cm) X 4.13" (10.5 cm). Clock: 2.55" (6.5 cm) diameter.

Chinese Famille Rose Sugar Bowl and Cover. The petal moulded base and lid with applied Lotus stems, leaves and flowers. Decorated in bright enamels with flowering peony. Yongzheng C1730/40. Height 4 1/4" (10.8cm). Excellent condition, no frits, cracks or restoration. Old collection label attached with sealing wax to base.

A Chinese Yixing Teapot. Length approximately 25 cm (handle to tip spout). Height approximately 10.5 cm. There are two hairlines and one chip. In good condition.

This set of seven Chinese porcelain bowls comes from the Diana shipwreck. It sank in March 1817 in the Strait of Malacca. The contents were recovered in 1994 and auctioned at Christie's in Amsterdam in 1995. Dimensions: Diameter 14 cm, H. 7 cm each. Condition: 5 bowls perfect, one with a chip on the mouthrim, one with a hairline crack. Every bowl has the original auction sticker.

A Long Quan Celadon bowl Ming Dynasty. Diameter approximately 14.5 cm, height 7 cm. Covered with even green tone and crackle glaze. Center with floral carved, the exterior freely carved with stylised foliate scrolls. Few small glazes lost on the rim. Good condition.

Diameter approximately 23 cm. Height approximately 12 cm. Few chips, engraving marks (as seen in the photos). In good condition.

Pair of Exquisite Gilded 18th Century Japanese Angels Wood Sculpture. One angel has her scarf unfurled and caught in a tree. The other is up in the clouds in heaven. Legend has it the angel’s scarf is caught in a tree and did not allow her to heaven. A young man passing heard her and fell in love with her, but was distraught at her sadness and released her scarf so that she could fly back to heaven...

Ming Dynasty, Swatow ware porcelain dish covered with a pale grey glaze and with overglaze enamel Arabic inscriptions. Diameter : 19,7 cm. Condition : Broken into 2 parts and rather successfuly re-glued because the crack is inconspicuously and there is still a nice sound when tapped.

Antique Japanese carved wooden figure of Nio (Buddhist temple guardian), carved of wood with wonderful details and intensity of expression, traces of original pigment, once guarded the exterior gate to Buddhist temple, on metal stand, Edo Period. Size of figure: 30" high x 17" wide x 7" deep. Size on metal stand: 32" high x 18" wide x 12" deep.
