From our Shipwreck Porcelain Collection, a fine blue and white porcelain dish, ex-Christie's, executed in the "Boatman Pattern" from the so-called "Nanking Cargo," which is the term applied to the porcelain recovered from the wreck of the Geldermalsen that sank on January 3rd, 1752. The Geldermalsen was a cargo ship belonging to the Dutch East India Company that struck a reef on its way back from Canton China, and sank off the coast of Indonesia in the Linnga archipelago...
Size : 15cm wide, 7 cm high. Teapot in good conditions, except small chipped and hairline at the lid.
Realistic and superbly cast statue of a Taoist dignitary, standing in formal attire, holding an archaic vessel with both hands, with a slight smile on his face. Bronze, encrusted patina, traces of gilding in some recesses. China, Qing Dynasty, early 18th century, probably earlier. Height: 7" (17,7 cm). Old dent on the upper part of the back, otherwise very good condition. A rare piece.

An antique Japanese porcelain hibachi (brazier) with a hand painted blue and white sometsuke design of a landscape scene and an indoor garden design. Key fret pattern along the base with a background of Chrysanthemum blossoms and a repeating eight window floral design along the top. Unusual mushroom style pedestal shape.

A Bizen Chawan ( Teabowl ) . Dark stoneware covered with a very decorative glaze. Probably 17th. century or later. Diameter : 14,7 cm. H : 6,8 cm.

Rare TALL Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Jar, Stand & Cover (AD 618 - 906)
This tall and impressive pottery set comprising stand, jar and cover was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). They are made from a relatively high-fired grey pottery and "cold painted" in various coloured pigments. The stand has cut-out apertures and petals to represent a lotus flower. The jar has a band of "pie crust" decoration around its waist...
Antique Chinese monochrome porcelain vase with fluted rim, beautiful mottled lavender glaze that resembles an iris, crackle grey glaze on the foot.

Japanese Antique woven fruit basket with bent bamboo handle. Woven of split bamboo with a wide and rounded hexagonal, squat form with low walls. The body of the basket is woven with two layers, a wider weave on the outside, and a layer of very thin strips of bamboo in a finer pattern on the inside. The handle and the rim of the basket are made of whole stocks of bent bamboo...

This phenomenal 7 3/16" Llama Bone Flute is highly engraved with human effigy carvings with crown or headdress and was recovered in Pisac, Peru near Machu Picchu. It is highly polished. It is so translucent that when backlit with a flashlight, light passes through both sides of the bone. It has beautiful patina. A lot of work and pride went into creating this beauty. I purchased it from Jim Bennett who has written several books on detecting fakes and reproductions.
Special offer: Heavily distorted shoe shaped (kutsugata) tea bowl with a strongly flaring mouth made of light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay. The expertly thrown body was trimmed with a potters knife in its lower part and covered with a very deep black iron oxide glaze inside and outside.
A 'window' on the side has been left unglazed and is decorated with a square divided into two white and two black section accompanied on each side by two circles with the same patterns...
A definitely extremely rare Yuan Dynasty ( 1279 - 1368 ) covered porcelain box with underglaze Cobalt blue floral decoration. The cover decorated with a human figure sitting in a landscape on a rock.
Diameter : 5,5 cm.
Condition : One small filled chip to the cover ( which is to see on the last enlargement ) further in perfect condition, no re-paint.
A pair of silvered copper (copper and nickel) Persian vases. the vases have a flared rim with long neck, round middle and collet foot. The surfaces is embellished with floral design of fine, and impressive scrolling.

Charming Antique Japanese box with large lid, lacquered red and black with mother of pearl inlay. Black lacquer mon of pine tree and writing in black, heavy iron hardware. Has original holes for tying top to bottom for travel. The inscription on both sides state the name of the confectioner. Trans: Confectioners Matsuzaka Asano Rokkado.
