A beautifully carved and gilt boxwood figure of Guan Yin / Guanyin. The goddess is holding the holy Buddhist scripture and has placed her hand between the open pages. China, Republic period, c 1920. The surface of the carving is covered with a thin layer of red that mixes with the gilt. The figure can be fixed to an oval wooden stand. Height (the stand not included) "4 ¾ / 12.3 cm. A stunning hand painted porcelain bowl with a gold trimmed scalloped rim was made by the Tressemann & Vogt company in Limoges, France between 1892-1907. Artist signed, the design, use of gold throughout, and selection of colors from the rich royal blue band with contrasting orange flowers to the band of blush along the rim is just fabulous. Measures 9.5" diameter x 4.5" high.

This porcelain vase was produced in France by Sevres Manufacture Nationale in 1915. It has the double markings, under glaze and over glaze in first quality. The vase is 12 3/4 inches tall. It is 5 1/2 inches in diameter at the widest point. The vase has a graceful form, with pedestal base and wide opening at the top. It is colored cobalt blue, accented with gilded stars. There is gold trim on the opening and foot. It has a high gloss glaze with a mirror finish...
