The nobori banners, carps, warrior's Yoroi and Kabuto helmets, samurai dolls and swords were all a part of the display used for Boy's Day (renamed Children's Day) on May 5th in Japan. They reflect the parent's wish (at the time that they were made) to inspire their sons in manliness, discipline, bravery and the honor codes which are associated with them.

A beautiful, pillow-shaped, sea-themed Alexandrite-glass vase, made by Moser around 1920. The vase is decorated with hand-painted fish and other marine-based theme. The vase is 7 3/4 inches (20 cm) tall and 7 1/2 inches (19,5 cm) wide (handle-tip to handle-tip). There is a small amount of roughness/chip where one applied handle attaches to vase's body (see last picture). Polished pontil. Unsigned - most likely it was made by Moser.

Super fine old wool pangden cloth- all hand spun wool and natural dyes. This piece is an exceptionally large piece consisting of 5 panels, circa 40 to 50 years old. I have had quite a few of these in the past and this is one of best I have seen.The weave is very tight and heavy and would make an excellent small blanket or throw rug. In the past these were worn by married women, but these days they are a fashion accoutrement for the modern Tibetan woman...
