Antique Japanese stone sekitō (pagoda) with three tiers. Made of granite and carved in 7 stacking pieces. The central square section is carved with a seated Buddha on four sides. The top spire is carved with 9 tiers between lotus petals. The surface has a beautiful patina and is covered with areas lichen and moss.

Antique Japanese large and deeply carved ranma depicting three sages (from left to right): Le-tieguai (with the iron crutch) , Zheng si yuan (with the tiger) and Gama Sennin (with the frog). There is much of the original paint still intact. Wonderfully carved with great detail and expression. Most likely from a Shinto temple. Edo Period (18th century). The monk Budhai, also known as the Laughing Buddha, is an incarnation of the Bodhisattva Maitreya, the Buddha predicted to succeed Gautama Buddha in the future. The rotund deity carved with a broad smiling face seated with his left leg tucked under his ample protruding belly, the right leg drawn up, the shoulders and extremities draped in a wide flowing robe. White hardstone, possibly white jade. Nineteenth century or later. B : 8,6 cm. H : 7,3 cm...

This carved reticulate nephrite is 6 ½ inches long, 2 ½ inches wide and a quarter of an inch thick. It has a traditional Chinese motif which includes a dragon, flowers, a vine and characters. The meaning of these four characters is ¡°celebrating happy events and long life¡±. The workmanship is just wonderful. It was carved in two layers which makes it even more interesting. There are a few small chips on the sides. It is in good condition.

Up for auction sale is an 19th century Han Chinese woman's surcoat, black silk ground with intricate embroideries on collar, sleeve bands and trims; 5 gilt ball-and-loop toggle buttons. The robe is overall in very good condition, clean, very light stains in sleeves and minor tear in the right armpit. Measurements : Top collar to bottom hem 38.5", Sleeve to sleeve 57" stretch, sleeve width 20.5", width between arm pits 30" narrowest, width of hem 38" widest.

A superbly carved yellow soapstone seal in the form of a boulder. The legend on the base seems to read: Hua pa chou shang yin, or "Huapa (Flowery Loquat) seal of congratulation". On one side is a design of archaic dragons sporting around a traditional emblem of wealth, the copper cash with a square hole. Three inscriptions are carved on the faces of the boulder, much as ancient inscriptions were carved on suitable rock faces in the mountains...
