This neo-classically inspired porcelain pitcher is magnificent in its grace and, dare I say, grandeur. It expands as it rises from its gilded circular foot then recedes to give rise to a towering helmet style beaker. The base of the handle is anchored in a shield from which it serpentinely shoots up and then down to attach to the rim. The gilding is sumptuous especially around the hand painted scene of a riparian idyll with 2 people in discourse...
These ivory statues were carved around the late 19th century or early 20th century. The eight immortals are Chinese legendary figures. From left to right, they are: Lan Cai-He, Cao Guo-Jiu, Lu Dong-Bin, Li Tie-Guai, Zhang Guo-Lao, Han Xiang-Zi, Han Zhong-Li and He Xian-Gu. The walnut base is 18 inches long, 2 ½ inches wide and 1 ½ inches high. The figures are 4 ½ inches tall. They are in good condition except for two small repairs...

Cover dimed with ornamental piercing and vasiform finial. Fluting and reeding. Fully marked including maker’s stamp, pattern no. 17816 (first produced in 1910), and director’s letter m. Large Chinese Qing dynasty blue and white porcelain basin with a central interior roundel decorated in the Canton style with a figure in a traditional pavilion in a landscape scene surrounded by water boats and a bridge. Hanging jewels extend around the circumference of the well and a border is along the rim. Three bamboo sprays are on the exterior.
The unglazed base is flat. 19th century. 13 1/4" diameter x 4 1/2" high...
A rare Yuan dynasty blue and white large bowl with flower lotus pond motif, bowl has been broken and re attach restruck please see picture for detail, size: 17 cm diameter.
Sake cup in wood lacquered with gold, silver and cinnabar powder. On the outside on a rich thick kinji background, decorated with flowers in gold and silver leafs around the perimeter and in the center 2 stylized Chinese characters in thick lumpy cinnabar lacquer with the most beautiful aesthetic effect, probably the mark of the artist. The exterior is decorated with maple leaves in gold, red, green and brown lacquer on a black background. Note that polychrome lacquers are very rare...

19th century netsuke of a Buddhist priest and famous 14th century poet Ikkyu seated next to a human skull and pointing at it as a reminder that all living things must ultimately die. Uncommon subject, wonderful smiling face, great depiction of the scull, nicely detailed (see the short Buddhist rosary around his right hand), beautiful wear and patina. Height 1 7/16 inches.
