A folky miniature portrait painting of a young man. With his stylish hairdo, high collar, and patterned vest, and pin, the gentleman exemplifies a dandy of the time. The blue hues in the background provide a striking contrast to the relatively monochromatic tones of the sitter.
The miniature is 2 3/8" by 1 3/4" and is housed in its original 2 1/2" by 2" brass case, which also has a lock of hair in the rear aperture. Condition is excellent, with no cracks, bowing, or paint flaking.
During the Edo period, the daimyo (Feudal lords) from each region was required to live in Edo (today’s Tokyo) every other year. A repousse sterling silver footed creamer made in Sheffield 1900. It is fully hallmarked for Sheffield, England 1900-1901. This 2-1/4" high serving piece has the maker's mark for either John Deacon & Son or John Dixon & Son, and it weighs 67 grams. This item is in mostly excellent condition with no breaks, corrosion, losses, repairs but it acquired some tiny edge dents on the right and left side edges from a recent disappearance (may need to expand the pictures to see it)...

This pair of Zhun is nearly identical in form and size to ones found in Houma, Shanxi province in north China. It is most likely from the late Spring & Autumn period (770-476 BC) in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty which is also sometimes referred to as Zhou III. Both visual and microscopic inspection reveals a dark base metal covered in parts with a patina consisting primarily of cuprite and malachite...
This is a pair of ancient Chinese bronze cheek pieces from a horse harness. They are strikingly similar to ones excavated in Fufeng County, Shaanxi Province, and currently on display at the Shaanxi Provincial Zhouyan Museum.
Cheek pieces such as these are generally attributed to the Western Zhou Dynasty (1100-771 BC). The pieces are decorated with simple linear decorations. The circular holes in the center are where the now-missing mouthpiece would have been attached...

From our European Collection, a good late 19th / early 20th century cast iron mirror, probably English. A charming but unpretentious piece that can complement many different styles of decor.
Size and Condition: 28 1/4 inches tall, 16 inches wide. Excellent condition, no repairs or restoration and the glass appears to be original: Some general wear to the ironwork commensurate with age as seen in the second close-up, but this only adds to the charm.
