Many reading this may be familiar with the traditional storehouses in Japan (kura) with their thick plaster walls used to store valuable items—sometimes for hundreds of years—safe from humid air, insects, and the like...

Mexican Pre Columbian Tlatilco Terracotta Male Torso. This culture rarely depicted male figures making this quite unique. The culture flourished at the same time as the Olmecs in what is now Mexico city. Wonderful little figure c1200bc - 800 bc . Size 2.25" by 1.25" wide.

A Fine Carved Koryo Greenish Celadon Bottle Vase:
Korea, Koryo dynasty, 11th -12th century
This is a baluster shape of body and cup-mouth shape, the sides tapering to
the flat base with no glaze, knife-cut with vertical facets below
interlocking loops encircling the shoulders, around the shoulder carved with lotus
leafy foliage, covered overall in a celadon-green glaze.
It’s in fine condition with some kiln-grit adhering to the base.
Measurements; 25cm x 14,6cm (9 7/8” x 5 ¾”).

This is a small and square jarlet from the Yuan dynasty (1277-1367). It stands on a flat base and rise straight up to a flat shoulder and then towards a small vertical square mouth rim. There are two small lugs on the opposite side of the shoulder. On all four side of the jarlet, there is a drawing of a single chrysanthemum flower in copper red colour. Most of the jarlets found are painted in cobalt blue and it is pretty rare to find them in copper red...

This choice vessel has the body decorated with a red-on-cream resist painted pattern.

This pair is part of a collection we are posting on the site. These are often misidentified as crossbow arrow ends. However, to our knowledge no such items have ever been found associated with crossbow bolts. These particular pieces went over the ends of the wooden ribs in large parasols. The protruding hooks put tension on the strings or straps that were attached to the skin of the parasol. This is a matched pair that is attributed to the Warring States period (475-221 BC)...
Beautiful large jade stone pendant of pectorial, Maya Culture, ca. 300-600 AD.
The pendant expertly carved and polished from a lovely deep green colored stone. Face mask in the center and two birds to left and right.

A Very Fine Korean Buncheong White Slip Inlaid Bowl-15th C, :
Korea, Joseon dynasty, 15th century.
The deep bowl on short raised ring foot with everted rim, decorated in inlaid
white slip with a central medallion of floral heads and dots surrounded by a narrow
band of stylized double rings and wide band of “rope curtain” design, the
exterior decorated en suite beneath a pale celadon glaze.
It’ in good condition but some chips to foot-rim, it measures 19 cm d. x 8 cm h.
Two offering vessels in the shape of an Alpaca, carved from natural stone. In the back a chamber is drilled; it was filled with llama fat or coca leaves. These votive figures were left in the fields as an offering to the Earth goddess Pachamama. H. 6 cm. Dating from the 15th/16th century.
