The thin man has a curly beard, one foot bare, the other wearing a sandal; his robe is open to expose his bare chest with ribs showing. Carved black wood base. The sculpture has some minor flaws due to age. H: 9 ½ inches, W: 6 inches

Late 19th century Chinese carved rosewood standing Shou-Lao. The long-bearded old man is surrounded by an acolyte riding a deer and a crane. He is holding a long staff in one hand and a branch of peaches in the other. Good condition. H: 15 inches, W: 6 ½ inches

Six pearl handled luncheon knives with sterling silver ferules. The ferules are decorated with a classic scrolling vine motif. The French-style blades are unusually long in relation to the pearl handles--a proportion that gives this set a particularly elegant appeal. The blades are marked with a "12" designating the highest quality of 19th century American silverplate. Pearl handled knives are more frequently found in the larger dinner size.
