Bizen ware hexogonal vase with engravings of orchids on the side of the vase. The patina and color of the vase is very similar to those seen from the late Edo and early Meiji period. Interestingly, during this period elaborate decorations and moulding were created which was popular during this time. However, the vase does not contain the elaborate decorations and resembles more of tokoname wares emulating the Chinese yixing potteries. Age: Late Edo or early Meiji Period...

1400s / 1500s

This saucer dish, raised on a fairly narrow foot displays the “shibui” and “wabicha” aesthetics sought after by Japanese tea practitioners as well as “Mingei” collectors. The brown stoneware body was hastily brushed on the interior and underneath the dish in a rapid manner with no consideration of perfection. The white slip was applied while the piece was still wet from the potter's wheel...

Indian statue of a jain buddha seated in meditation with hands and feet crossed carved out of white marble. The base has a weathered donatory inscription with a horned bull or possibly a rhino in the middle. If a rhinocerous, the statue would be of Mahavira in the 11th reincarnation. Traces of red pigment. The nose was broken during the muslim invasions of India sometime between the 13th and 16th centuries. From the Mt. Abu region, 15th-16th century. It measures 13"deep, 26" wide 30" tall.

This antique type of metal work was common in Nepal during the 1800's and into the early 1900's. The birds beak is carved from bone which is dyed to color. The "jewels" are colored glass i.e. enamel drops of orange, turquoise and dark brown. Beak to tail tip the bird measures 3.5 inches and stands 2 inches high. Very good condition with one "jewel" missing on the side.

Three small so-called Kitchen Qing jars with under-glaze blue decoration of sweet pea vines and flowers. Probably used as medicine bottles, 19th century. Height "2 – 2¼/ 5,3 – 6,1 cm. Condition: fine.

A tea bowl with iron red decoration of seal script and other characters. With slightly flaring and brown-glazed rim and a shop mark in under-glaze blue. First half of the 18th century. Height "2/ 5 cm, diameter "3½/ 9 cm Condition: fine.

1600s / 1700s

This water pot is in the shape of drum which doubles as a paperweight for painting and calligraphy. It is decorated with underglaze cobalt blue and iron oxide in a rather cursive depiction of flowers and butterflies. The side has two sections of calligraphy covered with a thick, translucent glaze, somewhat obscuring the brushwork. The base is not glazed and shows considerable wear and soiling from use...

Chinese export Imari plate, early 18th c. Outer border of scroll-work, the well with a bird and a blossoming tree motif within a diaper border, all in under-glaze blue and iron red and gilt over the glaze. Diameter "8¾/ 22,5 cm. Condition: some wear to the well and a 2 mm nick or glaze burst to the rim (cf. photos).

Antique Chinese carved wood side table. The wood has been lacquered in black. It is ornately carved with flowers and dragons. The top is inset with red marble. It measures 32" tall, 18" diameter at widest, table top 15" diameter. Early Republic circa 1900

Antique Chinese hardwood round table with six matching chairs. Table and chairs topped with beautiful burl wood. The table and chairs are decorated with a scrolling pattern. Well constructed and comfortable. It measures 39" diameter, 32" tall. Republic period, early 20th century.

Six (6) different cups in transitional age and decoration. Painted in different flower sprays and sea scenery's. Condition: Five in perfect condition. One has a chip and a connected hairline on one side of the cup. Provenience: Acquired by a dealer in Germany. Measurement: biggest diameter 8.6 cm = 3.4 in, smallest diameter 7.2 cm = 2.8 in

Han Dynasty pottery vase. Authentic and of the period, 221 B.C. to 206 A.D. In the photos, you can see the firing supports that are still intact, as well as the oxidation of the lead glaze, with the silver bleeding through to the surface, all of which lend to its authenticity. It is worth noting that there are several incised bands around the circumference of the jar. Measures approximately 17” (43.2 cm)tall and 10” diameter at widest.

A beautifully rendered statue of Lu Xing, the Chinese God of Wealth and one of the 3 Star Gods. Richly painted in bright floral patterns and scrolling tendrils, it is in excellent condition. There are hole piercings in the ears and nose areas of Lu, and ear piercings in the child. C The sculpture measures 17" or 43.17 cm high and dates to the late Qing. Circa 1900. Marked on bottom.

Ming Dynasty, Ca. 1500s

This figure of a seated scholar is glazed turquoise with amber colored highlights. The back is mostly unglazed except for the original white slip coating, now darkened with age. The interior is hollow and unglazed, exposing the reddish clay body. The white slip coating continues for an inch or so into the interior cavity. The face is covered with a thin white slip (now darkened) but is otherwise unglazed...

An interesting carved wooden Chinese panel utilizing scrolling vines with motif of flowers. Traces of blue, white, green, and red pigments and detailed painting can be found different areas of the carving. Age: 19th Century. Size: Height: 15.75" Width: 2.5" Length: 49.5"

Finely carved wood netsuke figure of a seated badger holding an object with the right hand with his hat on his back, inlaid eyes to animal, late 19th century. Size: Height of the netsuke is 2 inches. Condition Report: Good condition.
