Probably, our finest and surely the heaviest silver icon, we've had for a while! Russian Orthodox icon with an amazing wrought and chisseled Oklad, dating 1871.

This is NOT the usual foliage thin silver sheet oklad but a a heavy thick hammered and chisseled silver oklad in a baroque style with relief heads in each corner and weighing several 100s of grams in .84 silver. Fine gilt to the details. The icon itself with four saints and Christ with halo in the sky...

A broad, single-edged steel blade with a fuller along the back edge, both blade faces, the fullers, and the spine are overlaid with ornate goldish color metal foil, finely engraved with scrolling foliage motifs...

Provenance: Formerly in the private collection of Eberhard Hanfstaengl (1886-1973). He was a famous German Art director and head of the Berlin National Gallery as well as other higher positions. Educated as Art Historian. Comes with COA.

This figurine was produced in Germany by Nymphenburg c. 1910. It has the impressed shield, printed mark and artist’s initials W N for Entwurf Wilhelm Newhauser. They are pictured in the book “Die Tierplastik her Nyympherburger Porzellan" by Gerhard P. Woeckel. The group measures 12 inches high, 8 3/4 inches deep and 7 inches wide. The birds are well modeled with just a hint of color for their faces and to give definition to feathers. It is true to form, made in the Art Nouveau era...

This porcelain figurine was produced in Germany by Nymphenburg in 1913. It has the first quality impressed shield colored blue and printed mark on the bottom. Niki is incised on the front of the base. This piece is pictured on the cover of “Nymphenburger Moderne” by Alfred Ziffer. It measures 12 1/2 inches tall, 9 inches long and 7 inches deep. A Chinese, straw glazed, ewer with splashed decoration to one side; Tang dynasty. Though a number of kilns produced similar ewers during the Tang dynasty, the conical spout and discreet pattern of chevrons, beneath the glaze, would point to it being a product of the Shouzhou kilns in Anhui province. Dimensions; 19.5 cm tall. Condition; In generally good condition, with age related wear. Notably, there is wear and abradation to the rim, and an associated hairline crack to the neck...

Superbly cast bronze belt hook with a finely detailed dragon head at its top with gold and silver eyes, ears and nose, and with gold and silver inlaid geometric designs on the rest of the body. A knob at the back for attachment to a belt. Nice reddish green age patina, partly encrusted. China, Warring States period. Height: 10.5 cm. Very good condition. Provenance: acquired in 1987 from a reputed Paris dealer specialising in Asian antiques...

A lovely tall square stamp seal in a green stone carved with a star-ornamentet handle and a the base engraved with a wonderful scene of a two stags or caprides, one of the them eating a large branch with leaves. Attractive and unusual!
