Charming Chinese ink rubbing of a stone stele depicting a fat cat surrounded by rockery with holes and chrysanthemum flowers after a painting by Jiang Tingxi (1669-1732) that was based upon an earlier work by Ming artist Lu Ji (1477-1505). A very nice pair of nineteenth century Reverse Paintings on Glass, most probably showing the Qinanlong Emperor and one of its 3 Empresses. The Qianlong Emperor had 3 different Empresses in his life and many concubines. Size: 37,3 x 27,3 cm. Condition: Perfect. No damage in the glass and no damage in the very nice, original wooden frames.

Late Meiji period (1890s -1912) painted wood netsuke of a fully armored samurai, its head wrapped in a scarf, a Japanese sword at his waist and a Chinese looking one in his right hand. Very skillfully carved in a refined version of ittobori (one cut) style. Made in saishiki technique - the wood is covered with gesso, which in turn is painted in bright colors. Exterior is covered in black lacquer with silver rims encircling both the bottom and lid. The interior of the lid is decorated in very finely-painted gold and silver lacquer with a scene of fish swimming among seaweed. A small rectangular red lacquer signature in seal form is seen on the left margin of the painting. The base of the box is also signed by the artist in gold lacquer. Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Horse (AD 618 - 906)

This very attractive pottery model of a horse was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from a buff-coloured pottery that has been "cold painted" in a reddish-brown pigment with black and white pigments to highlight the head, mane and tail. This horse is well-modelled and stands straight, alert, looking ahead.

Chinese Han Dynasty Painted Pottery Cocoon Jar

This wonderfully-shaped pottery vessel, usually referred to as a "cocoon" jar was made over 2,000 years ago during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8)...

This ingenious antique Chinese pillow expands and contracts so it can be used as either a double and single pillows. The wooden ends have hand carved floral decoration. The head rest areas are bamboo and the individual rails are wooden. As expected,there are a few nicks to the finish which are consistent with a 100 yrs plus daily use item.

Japanese Bronze "Signed" Water Dropper, Ca. early Meiji or earlier, beautiful old Bronze Patina with little square raised opening on the top center plus little chimney on the side where water is pouring out little at a time, rectangle shape, 2 1/8" x 1 1/4" wide, 3/8" high, impressed signature on the bottom.

Antique 19th century Indo Persian Qajar dynasty Islamic ceramic tile of oval form, finely hand painted under a clear crackle glaze depicting a hunting scene with a courtly male dressed in a splendid dress with spear hunting antelopes on horseback in companion of a hound dog, set in a mountainous landscape.

DIMENSIONS: 40.5 cm x 27.5 cm (15.94 x 10.83 inches).

CONDITION: Cracked in half "clean break” and glued together one chip on the back of the rim.

A fine solid bronze figure of a Rooster / Cockerel, ca. 10th.-12th. century AD.

A beautiful figure, sculptured in the round in a naturalistic manor, very attractive and scarce.

The Rooster has finely engraved feathers on the body and tail. A hole at the top for the loose mohawk which is now missing.

Chinese Jin Dynasty Painted Pottery Filial Piety Tile (AD 1115 - 1234) - Tian Brothers

This interesting pottery tile was made during the Jin Dynasty (AD 1115 - 1234) and most likely comes from Shanxi province. It depicts a scene from the story of the Tian Brothers, one of the stories of the twenty-four paragons of filial piety:

Finely painted and early Indo-persian manuscript depicting a late sunset trip on the river just in front of a fortified city. A powerful man seated on the throne, perhaps a Caliph or Emir, in a horse-headed boat with Concubines and attendants. The other side with text. Finely coloured and gilt in parts!
