Fine Large Chinese Qin / Western Han Dynasty Burnished Pottery Cocoon Jar with Oxford TL Test

German 800 silver box, ca 1910. Oval and lobed. Cover hinged and raised with scroll tab. Sides have chased and engraved fruits and foliage on stippled ground in curvilinear frames alternating with plain lobes. Cover top same with beaded frames. Gilt-washed interior. Marked. Very good condition.

Chinese hard stone brush washer carved into a gourd bottle shape, with two separate pockets for brush washing, the top carved with smaller gourds and spiraling vines, the bottom carved smooth. The stone is light green with orange areas.

Chinese set of two (2) hollowed, wooden carvings, in a quarter-circle shape so as to be hung from the wall in a hemisphere, painted with bright iridescent pigments in shades of gold, blue, green, and red. The fronts are pierced with twisting squared bamboo designs, with bright green pigment leaves...

Sparrows in the wisteria trellis. Beautiful old calligraphy are also depicted. Painted with ink and pigments on paper. The artist is unknown. Circa 19th C.

Some insignificant light marks, traces of crease that has been restored on the back, and foxing are present on the painting, otherwise the painting is in very good condition for the age...

Small gilt bronze altar dedicated to Bodhisattva Padmapani, resting on four pillars, showing the Bodhisattva standing, backed by an aureola, holding a gourd in his left hand, his right hand in appeasing/blessing posture (abhaya mudra). Antique Japanese Ko imari porcelain vase decorated with motif of chrysanthemums and other floral patterns in the kinrande style. Motifs done in blue, red, and gold were often made during the 18th century. Age: Edo Period Size: height 9" diameter 4.3"

Beautiful small wooden jizai, or pothook. This type is called Daikoku, after the shape of Daikoku’s hat. These hangers were suspended with a rope from a heavy beam, over the sunken hearth. From the hanger an adjustable hook was hung that held the kettle. Good piece of mingei.
Zelkova wood with rests of smut, especially in the grooves.

Ca. 1700s

The stand and bowl of this vessel were cast separately and permanently joined at the time of production. The lid is topped with a lingzhi fungus. The entire piece is covered in an old brownish patina and small areas of verdigris. The lid fits very well into the grooved rim of the bowl. The lingzhi is cast as part of the lid, and has some areas of orange-ish patina. The interior of the stand is dark gray with some verdigris and the bowl interior is also a grayish tone...

Perfectly potted porcelain body, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with the very rare motif of ruyi - shaped panels containing lotus sprays divided by pendent tassels encircling the body. Jingdezhen ware, mid to late 15th. century. Diameter : 15 cm. H : 6,7 cm. Condition : Perfect. A marvelous and very rare Victorian patchbox, the body carved from a single piece of ivory and the cut crystal lid enclosing a cameo incrustation (“sulphide”) depicting a pansy. A ribbon tied around the flower’s stem reads “a moi”. This is a clever play on words. The French word for pansy is “pensé”, which is very nearly the same word used to mean “thought”. So, when combined with the words on the ribbon, the sulphide expresses the sentiment “Thoughts of me”...
