This is a beautiful example of an old Kyoto Yuzen dyeing. In this kimono, you can see the white lines around the designs, the very characteristic of Yuzen dye. This is where the rice paste is used to resist the dye and is later washed off. The dye on the silk bleeds. By outlining or covering the design area with the paste, the dye artists can work with the design more freely in detail than in the older pre-Yuzen method, which simply uses dip dying and/or embroidery...

Jewelry for the headdress of a Turkmen unmarried woman, made of silver and set with red glass cabochons. These domed finals were fixed on the girl's cap called "Tjubetejka", according to Schletzer decorated with a bird's feather meant the young woman was affianced. From an old Swiss collection. Cf. This silver box, of lobed medallion form, has a hinged lid decorated with geometric and floral repousse work in prominent relief. The sides are incised with floral elements with a caligraphic cartouche in the front. The base is also incised with a floral design surrounded by a band of small repeating triangles. The entire box is fashioned from solid sheet silver. There is some wear and light tarnish.

An antique Japanese Katana Small Chest and Stand made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. Original hand forged iron with cat bronze hardware and Urushi lacquer finish. Upper area holds 4 Katana and lower section has a locking bar with key that secures 4 small drawers where polishing tools and Katana parts were kept. Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Double Happiness Ginger jar with old top, Ca. 1900, later part of 1800 to up to 1900, 8" high, 7 1/2" wide-middle section, with typical design of underglaze blue double happiness character among the scrolling vines and snow peas floral decoration. The cover is fitted inside the jar top rim, the decoration of blue continued all the way to the top of the rim on the main body, and some black ink writings under the top...

An 18th century faience desk set or inkwell for a lady, decoration of flower sprigs, mainly Forget me nots. French, possibly Rouen around 1780, Width "6 ¼ / 15.8 cm and height " / 5.7 cm. The base with four little feet and mark W in black, maybe for William Sturgeon who owned one of the Rouen factories from 1776. Condition: later restorations having been removed, now left with cracks and hairlines (cf. pics) but still charming.

Brush case, nicely embossed with an openwork decoration representing three stylised Buddhist vajras on either side, surrounded with a foliage and geometric design. Silver alloy, with a fine age patina. The center of each vajra must have contained a coral or turquoise to enhance the beauty of the case. The case was made in Tibet in the 19th century, maybe earlier. Length: 33.5 cm. Very good condition .

Rare Antique Pre-Colombian Tairona Culture c. AD 900 – 1550. Burnished earthenware “four” holed effigy ocarina in the form of a deity wearing a long dress and a tall elaborate ceremonial headdress, seated on a Double-headed Serpent Throne. The blowhole is found on the top of the deity’s headdress.
