with floral sprays including carnation extending over the rim to the interior.

Japanese Meiji period wood suzuri-bako (portable calligraphy box) with three drawers to hold paper, ledgers, and essential writing accessories. The lid swings open by pushing a locking side button and reveals a narrow storage compartment to hold ink stones and brushes. In addition to the top carrying handle and drawer pulls, all the edges of the chest are reinforced and adorned with heavy original black iron hardware. An elegant and finely proportioned antique English toasting wine glass with a drawn flared trumpet bowl atop a plain stem and conical foot. Lead metal with a rough snapped pontil. A beautiful and graceful glass, and quite uncommon in lead.

A rare Arita export dish decorated in Kakiemon style with a pair of Hoo birds, (Fenghuang or Pheonixes) amongst rocks and flowers, Peonies and Chrysanthemums. The rim decorated with a Bird and vine pattern arabesque. Identical dishes exist painted in this pattern but enamelled in the classic Kakiemon palette. A pottery circular flask with the center of both sides decorated with a purple transfer of a man fishing in a river across from a church. The transfer surrounded by a brown/red raised band then hand painted purple flowers, green leaves, and red buds. The mouth with a beaded edge and neck decorated in the same red/brown. 7 3/8 inches from mouth to bottom, 6 ¾ inches across.
Condition: no chips, cracks or repairs. The green enamel has flaked off in a couple of places...

There are three chops altogether, one is of a very unusual shape of a vase. Beautiful calligraphy along the upper region with artist's signature below in corner. Tomobako is included.

This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in France by a Paris decorator in the 1870s or earlier. It has a hand painted monogram “AJ” hand painted in gold. The saucer is 5 1/2 inches
in diameter. The cup is 2 inches tall with a diameter of 3 1/4 inches. The porcelain it thin and translucent. The cup has a hand painted scene that surrounds the entire surface. An 18th century couple, of noble birth, are holding hands and reading a letter. The painting is soft and dream-like...
