Chinese Blue and White Porcelain rectangle shape scholar's Covered Box, Ca. 1880-1920, 1 3/8" high, 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" wide, underglaze Bird's face with scrolling vines in the center within geometric design border. A classic 19th century 2nd standard (800/1000 pure silver) tastevin, inset at the base with a 1669 coin bearing the likeness of King Louis XIV surrounded by "Louis XIV by grace of God King of France and Navarre." Large Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220) Yue ware hu form stoneware vase with two moulded and incised loop handles on the shoulder. Measures about 11 1/2" high x 8" diameter. Above the waist, the vase is decorated with two sets of incised lines running around the circumference. A mottled olive green glaze, consisting of green, brown and cream pigments, accents the upper section of the vase and the interior of the mouth. This is an extremely rare cloisonne masterpiece. It was created by one of the great Meiji artists, Ogasawara Shuzo. It is also a very large piece for cloisonne, at 14 3/4 inches wide and 7 tall. It probably weighs over 10 lbs. The entire dragon is raised relief. This is an eye catching piece that truly belongs in a Museum. Condition is excellent.

Fragmentary relief delicately carved to represent a group of three characters, on the left side a yakshi in a niche standing in tribangha posture and holding a palm in her right hand and on the right side two superimposed partly missing characters. A monumental pair of Chinese hardwood temple corbels, finely carved as a pair of fu dogs and their offspring. Each adult fu dog stands on their front legs with the rear legs pointed upwards, so that they would press against the ceiling. The front legs are balanced atop a floral xiu qiu ball, and a rambunctious baby fu dog clings by its claws to the ball. With small traces of pigments. A Chinese celadon-glazed porcelain vase with shape of an ancient cong, decorated with eight trigrams (bagua) on all four sides of the vase. A six-characters "Daqing Tongzhi Nianzhi" mark is inside the foot rim, and of the period. From our collection of Japanese Chawan with Christian Cross design: highly distorted shoe shaped (kutsugata) tea bowl with a rounded brim, made of light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay. The expertly thrown body was trimmed with a potter's knife in its lower part around the foot ring.

In the style of Seto kuro bowls this Chawan was covered with a light brown glaze. On one side the sign of a Christian (Maltese) cross was left unglazed and was covered with a transparent ash glaze.
