Today we have a very rare, old pair of Matl, Matilde Poulat cufflinks that are with no damage. The coral has mellowed with age to an orange / red. The center stone is faceted amethyst and being very clear, high quality which Matilde Poulat used in her beginnings of Taller Matl. You can see sparkles reflecting from the facets but I can assure you they are not cracked just hard to photograph. Each coral stone is seated beautifully and firmly in their mountings...

Today I have a big 1.5in. tall necklace to offer with an incredible presence. How can I describe this piece other than to say it looks like an Aguilar or Spratling design but it is an original design marked with TAXCO 980. There are no dents to the balls and the silver work has no damage. The weight is 105 grams of quality workmanship. Being 19 inches long there is room enough to fit most. When collecting and I run across something this stellar I do not care who it is signed by or with no name...

Properly signed FD for Fred Davis this is a 2in. tall, striking bracelet. Solid, thick, heavy and 7.5in. long with the shield shape glowing from higher than 925 silver. You do not see this extra large size very often so this is a rare opportunity to add to your collection. 86 grams of masterful workmanship I love to see the hand hammering on the underneath from it's making. Goes with anything you wear. Some tarnish and reflection in some of the photos. No damage or flaws...

Los Castillo designed a very special grouping of Pre-Columbian artifact pieces of jewelry of which this is one. All one of a kind and signed as shown. This piece also shows a collaboration with Salvador Teran as this is his bracelet design. In the new book DREAMING IN SILVER by Penny Morrill she shows a bracelet in collaboration with Teran and marked with Los Castillo. You can also see Teran accessing Castillo's Social Co-op hallmark on some designs...

Dramatic with a signed Taxco 980 which always reflects quality. The drop is 4.5in. across and 2.5in. tall. The weightis 54 grams (open backed repousse) The technique of the workmanship is seldom seen. Part of the individual link is thick base with deep chasing and the other end is open backed repousse giving dimension and then carved on top of that. No damage and the wearable is 18in. of comfort. The last picture is the necklace with a cuff already listed on my site...

Spratling was known to keep pet parrots and other animals on his ranch in Taxco. This handmade and finely detailed inspiration is called Lorenzo. He measures 4 1/2" long and weighs 60 grams. The bezel set amethyst measures 1 3/4" long. Both silver and stone are in beautiful condition. Spratling 1940's hallmarks are on the reverse...

Circa 1943-1948, the "Armadillo" design was originally created by Valentin Vidaurreta. There are several different versions, both in jewelry and belts. This bracelet has two opposing discs set in the center of a suede strap with a silver buckle closure. The strap is very fine leather, with suede on the outside and smooth leather on the inside. I had an artisan leather craftsman custom make the strap to replace the worn one which was on here.

Measures 7 13/16" end to end. Closed, weara...

Maestro Rivera is one of those contemporaries of Matilde Poulat’s who created jewelry in her manner and whose work I am always on the look-out for because of its quality and attention to detail. Based on a Matl original, the “palomas” (or “doves”) necklace at hand combines Mexico City style repousse with beading, wirework and oxidation. The two birds are shown here with wings extended, flanking a beautiful amethyst, surrounded by turquoise cabs above the central medallion’s articulat...

Another master piece with the old linear hallmark of Los Castillo that was definitely designed by Margot Van Voorhies. The early design number indicates the beginnings of Los Castillo. The sweeping foliage moves with incised raised lines which show depth and quality. The necklace is heavy at a 160 grams which is supported with rivets. It has a very comfortable approximately 17 inches of wearable length. The presence is completed with a one inch height. No damage or repairs and an absolute joy t...

Today we have a signed Hector Aguilar necklace that was crafted before 1948. Jose Flores was allowed to also have his initials on some designs made in Aguilars shop and this is one of those pieces. The necklace is 17in. long and is .75in. tall. The silver is thick with a weight of 76 grams which is quite heavy with links that are open with space. With the silver at a higher content of 940 as marked the patina is warm and natural. There are no repairs or damage of any kind. Do not confuse this ne...

Los Castillo design # 142 is a very early design with a hefty 117 grams and a wearable length of 17inches. It was necessary to restring this necklace in order for it to be enjoyed for another 70 years. In the early years many items strung on threads does bear this style of clasp. The center medallion is 3in. x 1.25in. The design is an overlay of exceptionally thick silver. It has a beautiful patina and is a pleasure to wear with no damage. Very rare, just LOOK AT THAT NECLACE!

A stunning Antonio Pineda modernist bracelet, its rectangular, slick links held together with bezel-set carnelian connectors, each one of which features a daringly protruding silver “tongue”. I love the gutsyness of the design and the mischievous sense of humor behind it but I am also taken with the rich color in the stones which changes hue as it responds to the changing light. Definitely an eye-catcher and one of Antonio’s designs that don’t come up very often, the bracelet measures 7 ...
