Large Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Painted Pottery Buddhist Jar with Sanskrit Inscription

This large pottery jar was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279), or possibly the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368) and has been been excavated from a Buddhist site in Yunnan province.

It is made from a buff-coloured pottery and a very elegant example of its type. It stands on quite an elaborate integral pedestal with the lower body decorated with bands of applied lotus leaves...

CONDITION: no chips, cracks, cracks or hairlines and free from restorations but imperfect shape from firing process. Good sound when tapping with finger tips.

Description:
A Huali wood covered box was preserved in a very good condition.
By sound structure and well track-moved lid, the wood box was yielded with charming brownish patina on the surface inside and out.
Darken hue was accumulated in portions due to enduring age.
In quite good size, it was used as a storage box for scholar’s utensils.

Date: Qing Dynasty, late 19th Century.

A reddish-brown stained hardwood carving of the star god Shouxing holding his staff and accompanied by a boy holding a bat. This item was possibly made in China during the Republic period - circa 1920-1949. Condition - very good - there is some chipping and age related cracks (please see enlargements 6 and 8), but no losses to the figures...

This antique Japanese wooden Buddha stands on its own a intricately carved base. The golden lacquer is worn away in some areas showing the under coat of black lacquer. This Edo period Buddha stands 8 inches tall including the stand.

Description:

A porcelain water basin in charming celadon glaze was in a flatten form.
Sit on the flat bottom, the water basin was decorated on the surface with circular rings which separated the surface in three sections.

On top, under the steep mouth rim, small circles in rings were surrounded around.
In the center, there're adjacent rhombuses.
At the lower portion, the octagonal flowers were decorated...
