Description: A charming ivory piece was crackled all over the surface due to long time of age. Enduring about 300 to 400 years, this ivory piece was supposedly used as a hair arrange utensil for women or men. Playing around the fingers, this charming piece is so attractive in old ivory tissues and in warm brownish patina. The patina is a bit of darker in real than in the pictures. A small Burmese Buddha made of silver. Its form is simple, unadorned and its hand is in the earth-touching gesture. The face has a wide nose with connected eyebrows and has a quiet presence.

An attractive white brass water pipe complete with all its parts (cleaning tools and original chain). Two surfaces of the square-shaped body have etched artwork of women reading in a garden surrounded by foliage. The remaining 2 surfaces have an etched poem about the scene. The calligraphy is particularly beautiful.

A very unusual art nouveau style Kutani vase decorated with a jagged forest of pink trees on soft green carpet, butterflies circling the shoulder which breaks into a darkened cloud of moriage beads decorated with spiraling karakusa designs in slightly raised gold. Superb workmanship, it is simply signed Kutani-zo (made in Kutani). The vase is 10 inches (25.5 cm) tall and in excellent condition and dates from the first quarter of the 20th century.

A bamboo brush pot carved in relief of a sage in contemplation wearing a flowing robe surrounded by nature - the hills are carved in relief while trees, grasses and flowers are etched around him. To his right side is a feather fan. There is a signed poem about his feather fan inscribed to the left of the carvings. It is a serene, well proportioned, beautifully carved piece. A bronze official's seal with the Chinese characters meaning "natural" and "pure." The top of the seal has a seated rabbit with its long ears folded behind its head. The rabbit is well-formed and proportioned down to the details of the toes on its paws. Period: Western Jin Size: (Seal) 2.4 cm x 2.4 cm., Height = 2.7 cm. Condition: Very good.

A very tall footed chawan by Kawai Kanjiro enclosed in a fine Kiri-wood box endorsed by his daughter Koha, head of the Kawai Kanjiro Museum. The piece is very much in this potters unique style. The pale rough clay is covered in ash colored glaze with a wide band of soft green, within which are two floral scribbles in red and blue. A jade of a chimera (mythical animal. The light grey-green nephrite jade has areas and spots of beige and dark brown natural that are to the stone. Description: A beautiful Imperial blue-ground porcelain bowl in large size was painted to the exterior with five-clawed dragon motif. In iron-red, the imperial motif of dragons were paired with Phoenix and decorated with patterns of tendrils flowers and weeds. A real imperial porcelain was in quite large size and very unique colour. Date: Qing Dynasty, Guang-xu mark and period (AD1875-1908) Width: 25.5cm Condition: very good except some kiln defects within the foot rim.

A beautifully potted octagonal Jun-Yao bowl from the Song Dynasty (960 – 1276). The colour of the bowl is more to the purplish side than blue hue that is shown in the picture. This is due to the light reflection that throws out the blue colour. The foot stand is burnt to light russet brown in colour with a small chip.

This is a very beautifully potted and unusual Yuan Dynasty(1277-1367) qingbai (yingqing) meiping or plum vase. It has a thick foot base then rise slightly upward to a beaded and slightly baluster body with a slightly rounded and then flat shoulder and then rising to a single loop neck. The design is that of moulded lotus flowers and leaf in various stages of flowering in four carthouces on the shoulder as well as the body...

Description: An enamel covered box of Qing dynasty was kept well and with an old auction sticker of the Christie's on it. Decorated with beautiful motif of flowers in four parts including at the cover, metal wire was chased into the scarlet ground and formed with archaic regular lines. Date: Qing Dynasty (19th Century) Condition: Two minor old defects. One was at the rim of the cover while the other was at the bottom. Height: 7.9cm Width: 6.3cm

This is a small earthenware Sui dynasty (A.D 581 - 618) lotus design comestic box. It has three small rounded compartment. The top part shows the lotus bud, pods and leave. The three flowers below are shown as three small comestic boxes in melon shape.

Aside from some abrasions, there are only minor chips at the base (picture 6). Other than that, it is in good condition.

The measurement of the yueyao comestic box is: Length 8.3cm and the Height is 5cm.

This traditional style handwarmer has split handle with copper fittings. All around the body is a subtle etched design which is now difficult to see because of the heavy patina. Makers mark is on the bottom. It shows signs of heavy use. Approx 5" across and 4" high with handles extended

Description: A strand of rosaries was assembled by 108 pieces of old Zhi-Tan beads. Among them, old coral and elephant bone beads were decorated. Old beads were getting hard to find. All these beads were believed from Tibet, now were ingeniously strung as a decoration item. Date: Late 19th Century.

Han Dynasty Cocoon Jar (206 BC-220 AD). The distinctively plump, ovoid form of this jar, imitating the shape of a silkworm cocoon, has a fair amount of the original paint remaining on the body. Characteristic swirling cloud / scroll designs in reddish-pink and white cold-paint pigments decorate the surface. This jar is in very good, “as excavated” condition with no visible repairs, one chip to the rim of the mouth (see photos), as well as some burial dirt still attached...

An haunting 17th century sumi-e image of a goose at twilight by Kano Toun (1624-1694) in the original Edo silver threaded brocade border patterned with clouds, upper and lower extensions of heavy coffee colored cloth ending in ivory rollers. The almost complete dominance of white seems to convey a passage through space, from clarity into obscurity, leaving the viewer with a slight sense of loss echoing in ones memory...

From the CongJiang in Gui Zhou province, this drinking horn is carved from water buffalo. It is a thick (and heavier weighted horn) which, according to my Miao friends is considered an inferior horn. So, this piece would have been owned by a "Poorer" family. It is wonderful primitive art object with carvings that are full of symbols reflecting Miao culture and legends. Description: An exqusite wood carving depicts magpies on plum branches. With skillful craftsmanship, two birds playing within knaggy branches was naturally carved on the construction of the openwork. An example of Chinese traditional wood work. A reserved inlay piece was believed 'cause grooves were obvious on the reverse side. Possibly a relic of a pendant and can be recovered as one after some new inlayed work. Date: Qing Dynasty (18th Century) Length: 5.8cm Width: 3.6cm Depth: 1.9cm

This Dong festival hat is wonderfully embroidered with wrapped thread technique. It is further embellished with gold and silver bits edging the fabric design. At the back is the traditional silver ornament of butterfly and hanging bells to keep evil spirit away

This large embroidered money belt was used by Miao man for festival. The front face has delicate embroidery which is chain stitched over a black velvet background. The rear is padded and quilted home spun, indigo dyed cotton fabric. There are several areas between the different fabrics which are used as pockets for the storage of possessions. Very good condition, circa 1900-1910. excluding belt loops piece measures 21" across and 13 inches high

This child's headpiece was from a very high status, wealthy Chinese family. Basically made of 3 pieces of shaped and intricately carved leather, it was made "adjustable". Heavily decorated with additional carved elements, dragons, beads and pompoms, it still has most of the original gold paint. This is a rare treasure. approx 6" x 3.5"

Description: A decent scholar tray was in quite large size and was kept in very good condition except some old abrasions on the surface. Framed with rare Suanzi wood, the main bottom board was made of beautiful Inn-mu wood (burl wood). The patina was good while regular lines were carved on the reverse side of the bottom board and curves were shaped to the rim. Description: A magnificent brush pot was made of Nan-mu wood in 18th century. In an imposing manner, this brush pot was carved with imitation of a wood trunk. Left with original wood patina and some crackles amid the surface, this brush pot was kept in good condition except loss of the bottom board. A later made bottom was added firmly on it. This is a fine, beautiful and brightly coloured example of a small “Jun” ware bowl which was treated as a “manufacturing defect”. The bowl is well glazed in a bright lavender colour with pooling of a bright blue sky glaze at the base of the bowl. It would have been a fine piece if not for an overglazed which has resulted in an overflow of a big pool of the glaze down to the sagger. This is a fine and exquisite quality brush stand. It is in the shape of a moth with scalloped rim. Turn the moth in the opposite direction; it looks like a wufu (bat) with the usual inverted wing in flight (pic 2). The end body of the moth or the head of the bat is in the shape of ruyi. This brush stand has a lot of significance and is likely for high ranking official use due to its very good quality and gold gilding.

Description: A dark black glazed bowl was found from a shipwrecked hoard of South East Asia. Produced probably from Fujian kiln, this beautiful black bowl was preserved with original charming glaze condition only with one minor glaze defect on the mouth rim. This bowl had been cleaned meticulously with boiled water and ready for real use. Some coral adherence were kept for authentication and for original mood. This is a medium-size Liao dynasty (907–1125A.D.) moulded polychrome earthenware plate with leaded glaze. It rests on a short foot rim, a flat everted base before rounding up.
