In motifs of five bats(Fu, good fortune) surrounding a archaic character-Sou(Longevity) expressing the good metaphor, and scrolling clouds on the rim as decoration, this ivory piece was believed having been hanged as a lucky charm by the noble people.
An old drilling hole was on the side for stringing.

A rare huanghuali clapper with three beautiful pieces of huanghuali. The two outer clappers are rounded at the tops while the center piece is flat on both sides.The sound of the wooden clappers sets the rhythm of the music as well as some of the actions of the performers. This pair of Kingfisher hair ornaments are from my personal collection. The kingfisher bird feathers are in very good condition and the ornaments are 4 inches across at their widest point. Each piece has its original hair pin attached to the paper back with a wire.
