This is a set of traditional lacquer bowls from Thailand. There is a single gold mythical animal, balu-gwin, at the bottom of the inside and a three balu-gwin spaced around the outside. The gold rim with key design surrounds the rim of each of the 5 bowls.
In wonderful condition, each bowl is approx 5 inches wide at the rim and 2.5 inches high.
Description: A cute tiger figure was carved from one nephrite Houtien jade pebble.
By accurate characteristics on the features as a Ming piece, the crouching jade tiger was preserved with obvious iron rust on the surface.Further more, portion of the jade tissue was revealed with pale-tinted incursions within the tissues...
An attractively carved okinomo, depicting three sparrows on a branch, made in Japan during the Meiji period (1868-1911) for export to Europe or the U.S.
Condition very good. There is one crack which runs through the centre of the branch and finishes as a hairline on the first birds head. The ivory displays the usual age yellowing - most visible on the back view...
Description: A decent lotus-bud bowl from Jun kiln was in beautiful look. In a tint of the famous sky-blue glaze, the elegant bowl was shaped at the foot ring with regular wall. Developed with darkened colour which was caused by kiln firing, the unglazed foot ring was preserved with obvious burial earth. Light incursions of pinhead holes were found on the surface near the bottom. In the cavetto, the glaze was in milky-white blue when some residues were left for authentication...

Description; A rare Yaozhou plate was uniquely glazed and formed a star-like pattern. In a special glazing form, the ware was molded as an oval shallow basin. When the foot ring was shaped with steep wall, the bowl's surface was dipped in the white pigment first then was slipped with black glaze. It was then formed the star-like motif in the cavetto.
