Virabhadra, incarnation of Shiva, is often depicted in solid bronze plaques. This one however is remarkably fine, with its delicate openwork. It dates from the 16th century, possibly earlier and was made in West India. It has a warm brown patina and appropriate age wear. There is a very old repair just above the small figure on the left. Height 26 cm (the sculpture), 32 cm including the stand.

Condition: some old damage and an old repair to the thinly cast back of the stand. Otherwise in wonderful original condition.

A light tinted celadon cup was in unique octagonal shape.
Well crackled in the glaze, the cup was supported by the short stem foot from which the brownish body clay was revealed at the bottom.
It was probably being used as a wine cup or for tea drinking.
Whatsoever, it was a fine piece by all the characteristics with old condition.

A Chinese B&W storage jar decorated with ladies playing a game in a garden, surrounded by children. Marked with an Artemisia leaf. Kangxi period (1662-1722). In the 19th century the silver mounts were added by an unknown Dutch silver smith. Hallmarked with the 'old sword'. This item is in a very good condition., with only a minor glaze chip to the mouth rim. H. 12 cm.
This is Ming dynasty, Wanli period deep polychrome large swatow bowl. It stands on a short foot rim with a recess base. From the foot rim, it everted slightly and upwards, and then towards a mildly everted mouth rim.
The flattened centre of the bowl depicts the drawing of a very artistic “Hai Ma” shown crossing the sea surrounded by bellows of waves. On the cavetto, there are nine panels of some form of flowering plants while there are eleven panels on the outside of the bowl...
Probably depicting an ancestor or a Taoist deity seated on a horseshoe back chair. H. 28 cm. Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Very good condition with nice wear and patina. There is a repair to the left front leg of the chair. This repair was done in iron and seems to be a repair from the period of manufacture. Old collection number on the back.
