A spectacular black lacquered wooden sign carved with bold characters over a gold gilded carp swimming through a torrent of waves dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. A Brown glazed Ridgway Pottery Transfer Pitcher, with a Silvered Handle, Rim and Base. It Features "Scenes from Coaching Days and Coaching Ways"; from the Book "Coaching Days and Ways" by W. Outram Tristram and Illustrated by Herbert Railton and Hugh Thomson, published in 1888 by MacMillan in London. The Pitcher is 9.5" high x 4.75" at basem and dates from about 1890. It has a slight scratch on the side (see picture 4), but otherwise is in excellent condition.

Offered is a 2.5" x 1.125" sterling silver brooch in the form of a fish by Sigi Pineda, marked "Sigi, Sterling, Hecho en Mexico" The condition is excellent.

Glazed all over in iron rust with the exception of the base ring which has been left unglazed.

This brush washer is unmarked and age has been approximated at 18th century.

In very good condition with normal wear use present on the inside. One small glaze kiln flaw on the base but this does not detract from it.

By an arc loop as the knob, the seal was cast in a square shape with slanting surface on four sides.
On the printing side, four Chinese archaic(Xiao Zhuan) characters were finely cast.
It reads as JIN DU YIN XIN-the Seal of Jin Du. Jin du is also called Louyang, the capital of Song Dynasty. So it was probably an official seal.
