A truly magnificent sterling and turquoise cuff by award winning Santo Domingo silversmith Julian Lovato who at one time worked as a smith in Frank Patania Sr.'s Thunderbird Shop. The large and spectacular turquoise stone is most likely Kingman. The cuff measures 6" around in the inside plus a 1 1/8" opening. The fabric of this Japanese kimono is made from the very finely spun bast fibers processed from the banana like tree common on Okinawa. The delicate kasuri pattern which was woven into the fabric is typical of garments from the region. Bashofu cloth of varying quality was used for many garments which were worn by all classes in Okinawa since the sixteenth century.
