The base carries a four character iron red reign mark of the Qianlong emperor but this item was made later, for export, probably during the reign of the Guangxu emperor (1875-1908). Dramatic 970 sterling silver turquoise and moss agate necklace designed and signed (c.1940's) by Taxco, Mexico artist ANTONIO PINEDA. Necklace measures 17 inches of wearable length. Kokeshi, wooden folk toy of NE Japan. Height: 4.25". This is an example of the "Yajiro-kei" tradition of Miyagi Prefecture. The artisan is Niiyama Manabu, who was born on October 13th, 1930 (Showa 5). It is not dated, but was most likely made within the past 20 years. Doris was a shop in Cuernavaca. The beads of pottery and Mexican jade are wrapped with copper and a solid base to keep it settled when worn. The pottery beads are also threaded with copper wire as well. The underneath was welded with silver (tested) solder to hold tight. All the round beads are higher content silver. The beads are dented with dark patina in their crevices. The jade is with matrix and worn. This entire necklace is made with old, not perfect beads...

An Austrian cold painted bronze quails figurine from around 1900. This highly detailed 1-1/2" wide and 1-1/8" tall group depicts a pair of finely detailed quail birds with brown, white and red cold painting. It is stamped GESCHIT 1134 on the bottom and it is in fair condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, or repairs however it has a rough area on the side of the tall bird which may have been where another bird was attached originally...
