This elegant form vase is by porcelain master; Omori Shinobu. This vase measures 10.65” X 4” and is in excellent condition. The work of Omori Shinobu (1889-1962) is rare and even more so as this large vase comes complete with signed box and original personal bio. Omori, known for revitalizing the studio movement from his home in northern Japan, Ebetsu, Hokkaido, founded Hokuto-yaki (Northern Star Pottery) and even to this day a large pottery festival is held in his honor...

A fine Tenmoku Glazed pot with Pine needle design by Kimura Moriyasu dating circa 1985 enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 8 inches (20 cm) tall and in fine condition. A vase with this same glaze is held in the National Palace Museum, Taiwan.

Very rare example of museum-quality Shigaragki-ware by Tsujimura Shiro. It was originally given as a gift from the artist to a secret, wealthy benefactor upon the Grand Opening of the famed Miho Museum near Kyoto, Japan, in 1997.

A 30 cm (1 foot) square cube in oxidized lunar color by Hashimoto Tomonari enclosed in the original signed wooden box. By volume this seems in person much larger than it actually is. Hashimoto Tomonari was born the son of a sculptor and has felt comfortable with the processes of creation since childhood. A fantastic sculptured vase by the outlandish Fujioka Shuhei enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Iga Hanaire. A frenzied stack of rugged corners like the fallen away sides of a mountain revealing the earth’s structure beneath a layer of green. It is likely Fujiokasan is inspired by the brawny, rain drenched and forested mountains surrounding the town of Iga, where the Mountains formed a natural line of defense for the secret clans of Ninja who called the valley their home.

A dramatic cluster of evolving black clay by Yamaguchi Mio, not only a departure from earth tones into black, but also the first piece the innovative artist made with multiple feet. Golden Camellia blossom all bout theoutside of this lovely wan-gata Chawan by the famous female artist Ono Hakuko enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Kinrande Chawan.  The pattern is created by applying gold foil to the surface before firing.  Here she has cut the gold foil into patterns of camellia blossoms, and applied them over red glaze to great effect.
