Clottu" and dated there "27". Surprisingly I have not located a listing for this name, though the work suggests that this could be by a listed artist...

Watercolor and ink drawing of the iconic world-class sight, the Parthenon atop the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. The work is signed in red in Greek at lower right and there is an inscription in Greek handwriting on the reverse. Measurements inside the deep blue mat are 10 1/2" by 7 3/4" (16 1/2" by 13" in simple undistinguished strip frame). The artist has captured with considerable skill a sight that will never be forgotten by anyone who has seen it.

A Very Fine Korean Bird/Flower Hanging Painting by 심전(心田), 안중식 (安中植) (1861~1919) Korean, late 19th century, hanging scroll/an Original Box with 安中植) written on a label. Painted in ink and color with a duck, sorghum, peonies and camellia flowers on silk, with inscription with poem, signature-心田, two seals, 安中植 and 心田 each painting. It is in very good condition but some it measures 81.5x27.5cm

From our European Collection, a very fine original painting entitled "The Duet," by 19th century watercolor master George Goodwin (G.G.) Kilburne (1839-1924). We've seen a fair amount of Kilburne watercolors, as he was a pretty prolific artist of his day, but we think this is one of his better pieces. To paint as realistically as he does in just watercolor, as opposed to oil paint, is really a special talent all of its own. Signed lower right...

A simple yet satisfying little watercolor depicting central Paris along the river Seine, Notre Dame in the center distance. The work is signed at lower left by French mid century artist Fernand Guignier and dated there 1966. Guignier is listed, with some auction records, but there does not appear to be an extensive biography. Typical works are in watercolor medium and feature Montmartre and scenes around the Seine in the center of the "City of Light"...

So far there is no askart listing for this artist but I imagine that will change. She was a talented illustrator, often, of vintage fashion design, and created designs for cards as well...

For your Colorado ski cabin, a contemporary (maybe as early as the 1970's) watercolor and gouache painting, unsigned, featuring objects familiar to anyone who has gone skiing in the mountains: a packet of Kleenex for the runny noses, mittens/gloves, down jacket, lift ticket and ski trail map, tire chains, and rubber clasp to hold the skis together when walking back to the car. A vintage watercolor painting, circa 1965 perhaps, featuring a northern New Mexico church, perhaps the famous one at Ranchos de Taos, although it also vaguely resembles the iconic sanctuary at Chimayo. Or, perhaps it is intentionally a composite of many of the wonderful old churches of northern New Mexico. This piece measures 20" by 24" inside the mat and 30" by 34" as nicely framed in blanched wood. An internet search has not revealed an artist that might be matched to this work...

Studied - Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, winner of the Cresson Prize, WPA commissions, his non-objective paintings were included in 15 years of exhibitions at the Guggenheim Museum [ 1947 - 1955]. A PAIR of very early works (each dated 1889, when the artist would have been in only his mid twenties), each 9 1/2" by 14" (15 1/2" by 19" framed) signed at lower right by Northern California artist JULES MERSFELDER (1865-1937). The pair features coastal scenes of boats off of a coast and several small beached boats with tiny figures. Mersfelder was born in Stockton, east of San Francisco and a gateway to the gold fields...
