There is little biographical information on Simonetti, and it has been suggested that it is a pseudonym for Gian Gianni who was one of the last of the view painters of Italy. Gianni worked mostly in watercolor and produced views of Naples and Venice for people who were making the Grand Tour...

This is an original oil on canvas painting laid to a board, by French Marine artist Barthelemy Lauvergne. The title is Vue de Toulon, dated 1849, this painting measures 17 11/2X25 1/2 inches, signed and dated bottom right. Some light crackiing to the painting but everything is stable, the canvas has been backed upon a board no evidence of inpainting. Toulon is a city on the French Riviera and a large port on the Mediterranean coast...

The work measures 13" by 10" framed and there is no apparent signature. I opened the backing and see that the canvas has been laid directly on a board. The painting might date to approximately the 1860's; similarly dressed figures are seen in mid nineteenth century paintings of the Roman campagna...

Oil on canvas, relined, measuring 17" by 21" (24" by 28" as framed) signed at upper left in red by listed Italian painter CLAUDIO RINALDI (and below which he wrote "Firenze"---where he was active between the 1860's and 1890's). There doesn't seem to be a lot of information available on the artist, but the subject matter and the handling of the faces are consistent with a number of other works by his hand that have appeared on the market in Europe and America...

Jose Rico y Cejudo was born n Seville, Spain on March 27, 1864. He was the student of M. Ussel and J. Garcia Ramos at the School of Fine Arts in Seville. Eduardo Cano also played a role in the education of Cejudo as Cejudo would often pay visits to the artist'a studio...

In this beautiful scene, we can see a group of Russian peasants wearing traditional Russian clothes and celebrating joyously outside the village inn. The peasants are standing near a barrel covered with a board on which a bottle of vodka has been placed...
