Very large 18th century stipple engraving of a fashionable crowd under the trees in the park with Buckingham house (later altered to become Buckingham Palace) in the background. Titled, “The Promenade in St. James Park,” it was engraved by F. D. Soiron, designed by Edward Dayes in 1790 and published by T. Gaugain in London in 1793. This is a pair of engravings from Peterson's Magazine, 1877 and 1882, both nicely hand colored. Size as framed 18" by 20". The prints, titled "Les Modes Parisiennes" are very clean inside the mats. There are vertical central creases as no doubt issued. These would make for a pleasing addition to a bedroom or lady's feminine dressing area. Allow for reflections in some images.
