Miniature sized etching (2 1/2" by 3 1/4", and 7 1/2" by 8" framed), titled in margin at lower left in pencil "Cape Cod Shoreline", and pencil signed at lower right by Massachusetts listed artist MARGARET ELDER PHILBRICK (1914-1999). This is a mid-century work, I would guess, by a woman artist who was known for still life and landscape works, primarily in the etching medium. This incredible image by the British etcher, Arthur Briscoe, measures 8 1/8 x 15 3/8 inches, inked signed and numbered, 73/75, created in 1931. Briscoe studied at the Slade Art School and the Academy Julian in Paris and then spent the rest of his time sailing, becoming one of the most prominent British marine artists of the 20th century.
