Jean-Pascal was the son of Pascal Sebah (1823-1886) and took over the family studio in Constantinople in 1888. The studio specialized in scenes of Egypt and the Middle East.

During the 1970s, Haku Maki liked occasionally to do haniwa, depictions of terracotta figures that were funerary objects used during the 3rd to 6th centuries in Japan. This one—71-2—is a face rather than a complete figure.
Created in 1971, the print is 50 of an edition of 151. It measures 5.75in x 8.5in.
The print is in very good condition, with faint tape residue on the two top corners of the back, with no impact on the face.
Pencil signed by the artist at lower right and numbered 934/975 at lower left, is this contemporary offset color print, 8 3/4" by 10 1/2" inside the mat, 17" by 19" framed, the subject a formally dressed older couple with martini glasses sharing a quiet moment.
