A beautiful carved wood standing figure of a Siamese Thailand deity gilded wood, sitting atop a lotus leaf standing 27 inches tall

A well painted miniature portrait, executed in watercolors on organic material. The sitter is a nice looking blue-eyed young man wearing a black coat and blue patterned waistcoat. Presented in what appears to be the original heavy cast gilt bronze frame.

There are no condition issues with the painting, and the sight size is 4 1/2" by 3 1/2" with an overall size of 6" by 5 1/4".

An oil on canvas painting, unsigned, the subject the Arizona desert (we know that because of the saguaro cacti that are not found elsewhere), 22" by 30" (29 1/2" by 38" framed). The painting is deliberately painted in a very pale fuzzy blonde light, with pastel tones, making it somewhat difficult to photograph due to the lack of strong contrasts. The materials suggest a circa 1950's or late 1940's date of execution.

A fine pastel drawing of a small structure that appears to be almost adobe-like, surrounded by trees, signed at lower left and dated there 1970 by American artist WILLIAM BEAL (1914-1995). A nicely executed watercolor painting of a Mediterranean or Spanish style courtyard, the stuccoed white buildings with red tile roofs and grills on windows. Apparently unsigned, the work measures 10" by 13 1/4" (18" by 21 1/4" in circa 1960's or 1970's frame). This could be a scene of Spain, Central or South America, or, even, Southern California. Condition is excellent.

Original oil (50" x 40") by Bertha Ballou (American/ 1891-1978). Bertha Ballou studied at the ASL, the Boston School of Fine Art and in Florence. She settled in Spokane, WA. She is the daughter of Colonel C. Ballou, who was commandant at Fort George Wright in the 20's, and the painting is a portrait of Kitty, daughter of Colonel and Mrs. Marshall Candee, also of Fort George Wright (where the painting was purchased--at that time it was still Fort Wright College)...

Antique watercolor painting of a castle-like structure in an extensive landscape, 7 1/4" by 10 7/8", 14" by 17" in frame, signed with initials "M. N" and dated 1882 and, curiously, also 1888, at lower left corner. This is likely by an amateur watercolorist. The work is a survivor, with paper browning, broken off corners, and a small puncture at center right. Presently it is loose and unmounted within the framing.

A watercolor on artist paper depicting from street level through leaves and trees soaring buildings behind a high wall with a 19th century brownstone to one side. I can’t identify the place, though the brownstone is vaguely similar to the Villard Houses. James Penney (American 1910-1982) was a painter in oils, watercolor and a muralist with numerous exhibition records and works in museums and public buildings. He also taught art. Oil on canvas painting of a calf standing in a tawny meadow, 12" by 12" (15 1/4" by 15 1/4" in simple wood frame), signed at lower left "Hutcheson". This is a simple yet competently painted work by an artist whose identity remains unknown to me. I have searched online and feel this could be by a female Arkansas artist, but that would be just a guess. Condition is excellent.

John Sloan 1871-1951 American This is an original etching by American Ash Can School artist John Sloan. The title is: Boys Sledding, it was created and printed in 1920 in an edition of 100. This impression is hand signed in pencil, titled and annotated a "100 Proofs in the lower border. The image mesures 5 1/4X6 15/16 inches. Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet, with tack holes where the artist held the sheet down to dry. Very fine condition.
