T.F.Simon was born in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and traveled extensively throughout Europe, as well as Asia and the U.S. He lived in Paris from 1905-1913, then returned to Prague to teach at the Academy of Fine Arts...

James McBey, Scottish, 1883-1959. Etching from his Venice series of etchings. Done in 1925. Number 21 out of the edition of 80, this etching appears in the Hardie catalog as image number 250. The image measures 7 1/8 x 15 3/4 inches. J Whatman watermark laid-type paper. Collector's annotations in pencil at the lower edge of the sheet.

From our European Collection, a fine 18th century oil on canvas "Painting of a Gentleman," bust length in a brown coat, appears to be in the original period frame. Attributed to Thomas Hudson or Circle of Thomas Hudson (1701-1779).

Rare oversize original etching by Frank Brangwyn (England-Wales, born in Belgium, 1867-1956) of Notre Dame De Paris. Signed in pencil by the artist lower right. This work is #231 in the Catalogue Raisonne, and dates from 1914. 22" by 29" etching alone, 35" by 42" in its period frame. Brangwyn is an important artist of the Arts and Crafts period.
