The work is by a skilled hand, though I can find very little information online relating to this name; the painting was found in Los Angeles, and a woman by that name died in San Marcos (North San Diego County) in the late 1980's, but there is no way of telling if this might have been the artist...

Found in Southern California, this is a mixed media (colored markers and pencils) drawing on paper, 23 1/4" by 18", unframed, the subject a stylized seated obese woman. The artist signed her name at lower right and dated the work nearby "04". The name appears to me as "Greta A. Dietrich" or similar, but I do not see a listing under the various possibilities I have investigated---more research might turn up the artist name...

Gouache on paper drawing of Wise Men on camels in a nocturne landscape, the bright star announcing the birth of Jesus, titled at bottom "Behold There Came Wise Men", 15" by 18 3/4" (22 1/4" by 28 1/2"as framed, without glass), apparently unsigned, but by a little-known California artist, Frederick Millson. This is an accomplished illustration drawing by a talented yet elusive artist about which there seems to be little known. It would make for an unusual Christmas gift...

Nicely executed little watercolor of a woman in her nineteenth century finery, 11" by 7 3/4" as newly framed behind quality Tru Vue glass, unsigned. Her dress looks like circa 1860 but I do not know for sure that this would have been painted then. It would make for a pleasing addition to a woman's bedroom or sitting area.

Carroll Thayer Berry is a familiar name in artistic circles in the state of Maine, as he was an artist, illustrator and photographer there for many decades. Born in New Gloucester, he grew up in Portland and there became enamored of the sea and seagoing. After study at the University of Michigan (naval architecture) he worked for engineering firms in New York and Portland, then still as a young man worked on murals in administrative buildings in the Panama Canal Zone...

Oil on masonite painting, (24 1/2" by 31" as framed) of a clipper with bare masts, at anchor near a beach at dawn or sunset, signed at lower right by artist Sean O'Farrell. I do not see any listings for this artist, who obviously had a solid command of painting. The work was likely created circa 1960's. There is a small loss at upper left, otherwise it is in excellent condition. The frame is likely older, dating perhaps to the 1940's or 1950's, and it is itself interesting and of value.

This is an example of the rare and desirable Currier print "Woodcock Shooting", 1852, measuring 14 1/2" by 19 1/2" inside the mat, 20 1/4" by 25" as framed. Some of these are offered in fine print shops to $4,000 if in excellent condition...

The work, measuring 6 3/4" by 9 3/4" inside the gold mat, and 14 3/4" by 17 3/4" in its old framing (no glass), probably is an earlier work of the artist, judging from the signature style...

This is a most interesting assemblage, of ceramic, paint, photographs and other materials, 16" by 24", unframed, signed at lower right and in two places on the stretcher and dated 2005 by the noted Belgium-born, California contemporary artist SIMONE GAD (1947-2021). Gad attended Los Angeles colleges in the mid 1960's and by the early 1970's was already becoming an active exhibitor in galleries and other art venues...

An old Orientalist or biblical scene painting, oil on paper on board, 8 1/2" by 13", 16" by 20" framed (no glass), signed in Cyrillic boldly at lower right "Bobrov". The work could perhaps be by one of two listed Russian artists, Aleksei Alekseevich Bobrov (1849-1899), or Viktor Alejewitsch Bobrov (1842-1918), or, it could be by neither artist. What is certain is that this is old, and nicely executed...

I do not see a signature or date, though I believe the paper is likely from the 20th century. The drawing has not been properly framed (no mat) so there has been some contact with the glass...

Large and complex abstract drawing, possibly in oil stick or oil pastel, 27 1/2" by 18 1/2" (37" by 24 1/2" as framed), signed at lower right "Zohar" and dated there "12/89". This is a fairly common Israeli name and there are listed artists by this name but the style and signature do not seem to match up with them, so I am offering this as a great abstract that is sure to please from the decorative standpoint...

This is a monotype (generally considered an original work, the artist creating the art on a glass or metal surface which is then pressed against paper to create the final image---usually only one impression is made, so while some consider this a print, others might feel it is unique work). The artist, Pat Berger of Los Angeles (signed in pencil in margin and label on reverse) has been an active member of the art community in Southern California for many years...

This is a quality large size work in excellent condition. I do not see a listing for an artist by this name at the moment. The painting is nicely framed and is behind Plexiglas for easier, safer shipping...

At first glance this appears to be a 17th century Dutch landscape oil on panel by someone like Ruisdael, Hobbema, Cuyp, Van Goyen, or other famous artists of that time and place. Closer examination reveals that this is actually a late 20th century work in that style, signed at lower right by artist J M GRISWOLD. I do not see information on the artist but he or she was clearly familiar with 17th century Dutch art. The work is on masonite and measures 11 3/4" by 16" (17 1/2" by 21 1/2" as frame...

This attractive and interesting print is a cover of the November 19, 1897 issue of the famous Parisian literary periodical "Gil Blas", which was issued between the years 1879 and 1914. Named after Alain-Rene Lesage's novel, it was a popular read in the late 19th and early 20th century among the fashionable. It serialized famous novels before they appeared as books.
