The works definitely seem to have some age as the reverse side of the paper is brown and vintage. I cannot connect these to any particular artist so offer them as decorative mid-century works. A circa 1960's or early 1970's mixed media collage painting of a "Big Eyed" girl and her doll, painted in his usual whimsical fashion, by the French mid century impressionist artist ROGER ETIENNE (1922-2011). Australian "bark" painting, the painting itself (not including the panel to which it is mounted) measuring 25 1/2" by 11 1/2", bearing reverse label showing this to be a work of the well-known artist and respected tribal elder ENGLAND BANGALA (1925-2001). The handwritten label shows his age as 42, so this would have been created in 1967 or thereabouts. Circa 1965 red free form metal sculpture on a black wooden base by George Curtis (1923-2010). Curtis developed a unique way of creating freedom as opposed to formal structure sculptures. Using a 5 gallon pail filled with water and potatoes, he would melt scrap aluminum and pour it into the pail. The result was an unvisualized form that humans have never seen before, a representation of the shape of spaces and caverns between objects. Measures 15" high.

This is a painting on artist board, 22" by 14" inside its narrow modern framing, titled on the reverse in ball point pen "Avocado Tree", signed at lower right "Harry Lieberman" and dated there "62". HARRY LIEBERMAN (1876-1983) was a Polish-born, long-lived artist who didn't begin his artistic career until late in life. Lieberman had been preparing for the rabbinate but emigrated to the United States in 1906 when nearly thirty (some give his date of birth as 1880 rather than 1876)...

This is a hand painted original work, the subject a newly married couple, he in Edwardian (??) formal coat and medals and monocle, she in traditional white with a corsage. The image was either intentionally cut out by the artist and pasted onto a board which was in turn pasted onto a light green silky surface, or someone has subsequently decided on this presentation. Currently the figures therefore stand out in something of a three dimensional manner from the background...

A small gouache painting of what I believe to be New York's tony upper 5th Avenue area in winter, the view looking south, encompassing the entry to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, skyscrapers filling the distance, 7" by 10 3/4" (13 1/2" by 17" in gold metal frame with double mat). I think it also possible that the scene could be Chicago's Michigan Avenue and the Chicago Art Museum; more research needed. This appears to be an image in gouache on top of some kind of waxy scratchboard, measuring 10" by 14" (17" by 20 3/4" as framed), signed at lower left "DE GUST" and dated there "59". I can't find a listing for the artist but he or she painted in a classic style pioneered by the likes of Jean Le Mayeur and others in the history of modern Indonesian art. The painting is in excellent condition, and is ready for the wall in its simple black frame and clean mat.

A charcoal and color chalk drawing of a young boy, 8 1/2" by 4 1/2" inside the mat and 11 1/2" by 7 1/2" framed, apparently unsigned. The work is affixed at three edges to another sheet, I was able to peer into the back via the open side and do not see any writing or other information there. The drawing extends beyond the mat, as shown. Nicely executed work by unknown artist.

Small painting on a medium that might be jute fibers, 12 1/4" by 12 1/4" framed, possibly signed at lower right with initials or monogram, but essentially unreadable. The piece is very "Atomic Age" 1950's style and is doubtless of that period. Unfortunately over time there has been some abuse, and scattered losses cover a large portion of the painting, as shown.
