George Maroniez was a member of the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1889, and started exhibiting there when he was just 22. He won several awards and was made Knight of the Legion of Honor.

Size and condition: 13 inches x 11 inches framed dimensions, approximately 10 inches x 8 inches unframed image size. This painting has been taken care of well, there is only some very minor age-related soiling and minor scuffing to the frame.

The 3 photos are of Jacob Jordanes portrait of he and his wife in 1621-22. The painting on panel shows the same design on her vest and I believe it was copied from Rubens. Please refer to Flemish painting in our listing. A new lab report confirms the gold color is real "GOLD" on canvas!!

From our European Collection, a good and sizable 19th century oil on canvas, British School, depicting gothic ruins over an aqueduct at moonlight. The artist's skillful use of depth perspective, along with adept use of various shades of grays and blacks, all contrasted and backlit by a cloudy moonlit sky, combine effectively to create a wonderfully evocative and somber scene that captures well a time and place from centuries past.

This is a pre-1900, fine original oil by J.F. Herring. Overall with frame it measures 42” by 30”. The painting itself is 36” by 24”. It is fully signed J.F. Herring.

A circa mid 20th century oil on Masonite landscape painting of trees and a wide stream, 20" by 36" (25 1/2" by 31" framed), signed in Russian or possibly Ukrainian (or, Armenian?) at lower left. The work currently has a yellowish cast which appears to be nicotine from cigarette smoke. Were it to be cleaned the painting might well be totally a different color, but the yellowish "autumnal" tone seems to work on its own. Condition is very good with only a few light abrasions.

This is a fragment of a larger 18th century European religious painting. The painting is very well painted in oil on wood with a gesso layer and depicts Christ carrying the cross with a thorn crowned head. Dimensions: 36 cm x 14, 5 cm (14 1/8 in x 5 5/8 in).
