The painting should be saved for posterity, but for that to happen, it will require relining, cleaning and inpainting by a professional restorer. This is a Early 1820 Portrait of U.S Senator William Pinkney (1764-1822)of the state of Maryland. He was a outstanding Maryland Lawyer and was from Annapolis and then Baltimore. Early in our research, the Portrait appears to be in the style of Charles Willson Peale. (1741-1827). The Portrait measures 30" x 24" and is mounted in a new style gold leaf frame. Circa 1880's painting in oil on a 14" diameter papier mache style plate, unsigned, featuring a winter scene at dusk. This charming antique work by an anonymous artist has nice detail and light. The artist was not professional but certainly had some training and a good eye for color and composition. The work has acquired some small losses, showing as white spots in the imagery, and along the rim. See old original label on reverse with 1880 patent date. Found in coastal New Jersey.

Here's an unusual item, a painting on white milk glass, in oil, measuring 5 1/2" by 7 1/2" and 8" by 10" as framed. The somewhat folk art feeling work is not signed. I would judge the age as anywhere from about 1880 to about 1920----a nautical type could probably date this more accurately by noting in which decade such a ship would have existed. Condition is good with minor paint losses from scratches and aging. However the small losses are not really noticeable at normal viewing distance. ...
