An excellent example of the watercolor work by the noted New Orleans artist NESTOR FRUGE (1916-2011), 14 1/2" by 10 3/4" (20 1/2" by 16 3/4" framed), featuring the famous and often-painted Brulatour Courtyard in New Orleans. Fruge painted mostly watercolors and was a familiar and beloved part of the Jackson Square tourist scene in New Orleans for decades. Antique, circa 1910 unsigned watercolor on paper painting of a red-headed young woman with elaborate hat, carrying roses, 12" by 9 3/4" in modern-day but attractive and complementary gold framing. There are old condition issues (cracks in the board) at top portion in the hat, and hair, extending to the top edge. These were amateurishly taped on the back side...
An impressively detailed circa 1860's watercolor of Lausanne in western Switzerland, signed at lower right by listed French artist Achille Gratien Gallier (1814-1871). By the internationally acclaimed (male) artist Shirl Goedike (born 1923) is this impressive fine watercolor painting of a sun-washed large classic estate mansion, likely in southern France, (conceivably, in Southern California), signed at lower left by the artist and dated 1991. The piece measures 20 1/2" by 28 1/2" inside the mat and 28 1/4" by 35 1/2" as framed. I have not opened the backing to determine a title or firmly establish the geography of the subject...
Contemporary or late 20th century watercolor painting of flowering cacti, 14" by 19 1/4" (22" by 28 1/2" in black frame) signed at lower right by artist Anita Zirkle. I do not see biographical information on the artist but she has excelled here, showing her full talent as she creates a close-up (think Georgia O'Keeffe) of yellow flowers on beavertail or similar cacti. Look at the pistils of the blossom---amazing technique by the artist. Condition is excellent. Black frame shows some wear.
