Windermere from Belle Isle English 1840s Gouache Study original art measuring 5 x 7, frame size 10 x 12
Watercolor on paper, 10 1/4" by 14" inside the present mat, and 3 1/2" of frame and mat, signed at lower right "G. MORELL" (or, MORELLY or MORELLI), showing a Southwest Hopi style native American pot against a striped background. This is an original watercolor, and NOT A PRINT! I do not see a listing for this obviously talented artist, but this is a very decorative work that will grace any home or office seeking a Southwest theme. Condition is excellent with fresh colors and no damage.

A circal 1960's watercolor painting of the famous 17th century church of Santa Prisca in Taxco, Mexico, and its picturesque sub-tropical surroundings, signed at lower right "Marco Antonio", "Taxco Gro.". The decorative piece measures 12 1/4" by 9 1/2" and 18 1/2" by 15 1/2" in green frame. It is in excellent condition considering that the drawing was made nearly fifty years ago. Taxco then as now was a tourist center, conveniently near Mexico City...
For the collector of Oregon or Northwest art, a small (6 1/2" by 8 1/2" in inexpensive wood frame), unsigned contemporary watercolor of a small river running past rugged, arid cliffs, titled on reverse "John Day River @ Black Rock". The John Day River is a tributary of the Columbia River, in north central Oregon. At 243 miles in length it is the third longest free-flowing river in the United States. It is known for its salmon and steelhead fishing...
Frederick Judd Waugh
1861-1940
American
This is a fine original watercolor/gouache painting by American Marine painter Frederick Judd Waugh. This painting created circa 1910 of a Sailboat race off of the rocky coast measures 10X14 inches, signed lower right and nicely housed in a custom frame.
Waugh was the son of a well-known Philadelphia portrait painter, Samuel Waugh...
Attractive 1940's watercolor painting of coastal surf and rocks, 11 1/2" by 15 1/2" (18" by 22" in attractive gold carved frame), signed at lower left by listed California artist CARL RUBEN WALLINE (1884-1976). Affixed to the backing is a very old Spectrum Club/Long Beach label and the title "Breakers", and the date June 8, 194(X). The watercolor is very light and impressionistic; there could be even sun fading, or this effect could be the way the artist painted it; difficult to determine...
A subtly elegant watercolor and ink drawing on a rice-type traditional paper, the subject bare autumn or winter trees around a small body of water, the work signed in characters at lower left, also signed in English "Jim Zhang", and bearing at upper left the red seal of the artist. Measuring 19" by 19 1/2" (28" by 28" in blond wood framing, behind Plexi), the work is tradtional while being contemporary at the same time. Condition is excellent...
Watercolor en grisaille drawing of the ornate entry area of a 19th century American home, complete with trellis, shutters, clapboard and fine woodwork, unsigned, measuring 18" by 14" (20 1/2" by 16 7/8" framed in brown wood frame. There is also a pencil study of the doorway on the reverse (see last photo). Any number of artists could have created this. It reminds me of a home you'd see in a watercolor by Edward Lamson Henry. I'd date this to about 1910 through 1930...
A watercolor view from the side including the obelisk and the twin spires of the church Trinita dei Monti (The church of the Santissima Trinità dei Monti) at the top of the Spanish Steps above the Piazza di Spagna in Rome. In the distance is a hill with an umbrella pine. Augustus John Cuthbert Hare (British, 1834-1903) is best known as a writer. He also painted watercolors as illustrations for his travel books...
A colorful watercolor Nude Painting signed Koler measures 16x11”
A pleasant watercolor painting of a small lake in what appears to be a mountain setting, 8 1/2" by 5 5/8" (13" by 10 1/2" framed), signed at lower left with what appears to be the name Howard B. Smith. I had at first believed this by listed eastern-born, California artist HOWARD E. SMITH (1885-1970), known as an illustrator, portraitist, landscape painter, and etcher. However now I believe this by a Howard B...
A vintage watercolor painting, circa 1965 perhaps, featuring a northern New Mexico church, perhaps the famous one at Ranchos de Taos, although it also vaguely resembles the iconic sanctuary at Chimayo. Or, perhaps it is intentionally a composite of many of the wonderful old churches of northern New Mexico. This piece measures 20" by 24" inside the mat and 30" by 34" as nicely framed in blanched wood. An internet search has not revealed an artist that might be matched to this work...
Watercolor of white flowers, 7 3/8" by 7 3/8" (14 1/4" by 14 1/4" in gold metal framing), signed at lower right by Northern California contemporary artist Joyce Herman. Her business card is affixed to the reverse side. The painting is nicely done and in excellent condition.
Gouache and watercolor abstract painting, 10 1/2" by 7 1/2" (17 3/4" by 14" in quality ash wood, deep poster box-style contemporary framing), signed in pencil at lower right by artist ANN THORNYCROFT (1944-) and dated there 1992. The work is very light and ephemeral and would fit right into any modern-leaning setting...
Circa 1840's watercolor on paper (not likely later than 1860), apparently unsigned, 16 1/4" by 10 1/2" (25" by 20 1/2" as framed), showing a classic European tower above an arched stone bridge in a city, several figures in period clothing going about their daily lives. This is in amazingly fresh condition, with vibrant fresh color and a minimum of foxing. The drawing is in a frame that dates to the 19th century and it appears to have not been previously opened, since the original square nails ...
